Waiting at West Yellowstone for Summerfest

Yesterday we went into Yellowstone to see game. We were told that most of the Bison were in the Lamar River Valley, and they were. We had plenty of close encounters with them. Lots of new babies in the herds. In addition to the bison we saw several prong horns, a pair of big horn sheep, a wolf trotted past us on the road, another pair of black bears crossed the road and grazed less than 100 yards from the road. Also saw about a dozen elk cows. Saw a lot of not so smart people too!

Today we will drive less and see the tradional sights.

Sounds like fun! We will be overnighting tomorrow (Friday) at Grizzly in West Yellowstone before heading to Big Sky Saturday morning.

There are sheep off the highway when you enter Big Sky. Be aware. Have Fun.

This year was the best for seeing bison in Lamar Valley. Two weeks back the herd numbered over 1,000 and stretched for a mile and a half between the road and river.
