Just picked up our new Aspire and forgot to ask about placing a water pressure reducer on the outside hose connection. We always did on our fifth wheel but need to know if the Entegra needs one. Seems like our shower water pressure is low with a reducer on. Thanks

Water pressure is primarily a function of the supply water pressure. A reducer (something with a small orifice) works only when the water is turned on. It will allow water pressure on your internal plumbing to be 100% of the supply water pressure when the water is not running. Only when the water is running will the pressure drop to whatever the reducer allows. Many times the supplied water pressure will be high...like 100psi. That can burst your plumbing lines. 40psi is usually safe and enough pressure to make your shower work fine. I suggest you consider a brass pressure regulator with a gauge. It will drop your pressure to a safe level without cutting off your flow too much, and you will know what the pressure is. Should cost under $40.

Thanks for everyone's reply. I did not know the reducer only worked when the water is running inside. I'm going to assume I have one(per RISKY) unless I hear different.

I wanted to offer results of testing water pressure regulators (sometimes referred to as pressure reducers). An earlier post mentioned that with a reducer and no water flow, the output water pressure would be the same as the supply water pressure. This would indicate a defective pressure regulator. I have tested two of the low cost brass pressure regulators (Camco brand) that are available at Wal Mart. They do, in fact, function as true pressure regulators. It would be false and illegal advertising for them to do otherwise. I verified the functionality of both of mine with a garden hose, a "Y" connection and a pressure gauge. With a 70 psi supply pressure, they maintained a fixed downstream pressure of about 45 psi whether there is any water flow or not. The problem is that under a heavy flow rates, the cheap ones will restrict the flow so that the pressure drops below 40 psi to some unacceptable level, causing low pressure for showers and other faucets within the coach. If your regulator doesn't reduce supply pressure, even with no water flowing, then it is broken. It is important to consider having your regulator attached directly to RV Parks, water supply to protect the your supply hose as well as components within your unit. Safe Motoring..

Brass regulator is the way to go. At $40 it is cheap. any idea where I can get one from?
Those cheap brass design have the major defect that they also reduce the water flow. So you get lower pressure and almost no water flow for the shower.
I hate those gadgets....

You can get one at Eagle's roost in Georgia. I left mine sitting on top of the elect box last month.

Here is a great supply source (from first hand experience)

One decision is how (or if) you want to handle the recommended vs acceptable "lead levels" (thanks California) in most brass units. Stainless steel is more $ but available as well. Just remember there may be many exposed "original brass" parts between your RV faucet and the originating water source.

We went with the brass N55BG adjustable regulator (and 2 SS gages) to minimize the pressure drop which allows for better flow installed inside the RV wet bay to keep it from walking away.

We are into semantics now. There is a big difference between a pressure regulator and a "pressure reducer". If it's a regulator, then say it is. If it's something else, we need to call it by it's proper name to even discuss it.
