Water Pump

Afternoon - I recently purchased a 2011 Aspire 42RBQ and can't seem to get the water pump to fully prime. It's picking up air somewhere. System works fine on city water, but when I switch to the pump there's lots of air in the lines.

Thoughts?

Check the low level drains and the tank fill . Make sure they are off. I believe also there's a valve next to the low-level drains as a Inlet to the pump, make sure it's fully shut off.

In the wet bay find the tee fitting on the verticle pex exposed on the left side of the compartment. It should have a piece of clear tygon tubing coming off the tee of the valve. Make sure that valve is closed. The clear line is used to pickup antifreeze when winterizing. Just stick the clear hose in a bottle of antifreeze, open that valve and turn on the pump. Sometimes the clear tygon gets pulled out of the pex compression fitting. Loosen the pex fitting hex collar, push the tygon onto the tee correctly and then retighten the hex collar. Most likely source of air entry is an open valve at this junction. The other two pex lines are drains and should also be closed but usually if those are incorrect it will just leak water when the pump runs, not cause air injestion.

Also check your fill/city water valve. It should NOT be in the fill position.

As previously stated one of the numerous valves in the water compartment being in the wrong position is usually the problem.

If none of the above helps remove the pump and check it in a bucket of water to make sure it is working.

Take a close look at the little filter just before the pump. It should be a clear plastic housing that screws onto the base. They are known to crack and let air into the system.
