Water pump keeps running

I need a little advice . I keep my 2016 Entegra Anthem on my
own rv resort site most all the time.
I keep the hooked up shore water to the motorhome when itís there.

My problem started when I unhooked and took the motorhome elsewhere to
ďBoondockĒ camp without any hookups.
When I turn the water pump on , it never quits running. The pressure is fine and works normal. I installed a Shurflo 4048 about a year and half ago. I only used it a couple times and it worked fine before. Now it wonít shut off unless I turn the switch off.
Did my pump go bad? Is it sucking air from somewhere?
Whatís the best way to test it? Water tank is 77% full. Is there a chart on where all the turn valves are supposed to be positioned for dry camping . Maybe one of them got turned while itís been sitting.Pump is quite and just keeps running.

You need to switch it from Tank Fill to City Water. Mine did the same thing and others on here guided me to the simple fix.

What taxman said first.

Then I would try cycling the fill city water valve a few times to see if you have a leak in that valve.

If neither of those works, I would go to the water bay and use the shower sprayer and spray water for a couple of seconds then stop and see you can tell a difference in pump sound or vibration. If you do then I would suspect a pressure switch failure on the pump.

Easy stuff first. I assume the last thing you did was fill the tank, so is that valve still partially open, or is there debris keeping that valve partially open allowing water to flow to the fresh water tank.

Shurflo 4048 is a high flow pump with a bypass valve to control short cycling under low flow demands.

The by-pass is a spring loaded diaphragm that opens up allowing water from the discharge side back to the inlet side. The by-pass is set to begin opening at about 30 psi and creating full bypass at about 65 psi. The pressure switch on the pump is set to shut off at 55 psi. If the switch or by-pass are adjusted too much, the by-pass and switch shut-off can overlap and THE PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF.

1) Allen wrench is a 5/64
*adjustment screw for Pressure Switch is in the Center of Pump Head
*adjustment screw for Bypass Valve is Lower Left towards pump suction inlet

2) Pump has a Pressure switch that controls when pump shuts off (55#)
3) Pump has a 'Bypass' Spring Loaded Diaphragm that begins Opening at 30# and is FULLY open at 65# (should not reach full open position)
4) Pressure Switch and Bypass Valve have their OWN adjustments
5) Clockwise adjustments raise Pressure Switch shut off set point (counter clockwise lowers)
6) Clockwise adjustments raise Bypass Diaphragm pressure point to begin opening/and pressure when it is fully open (Counter clockwise lowers opening & fully open pressure points)
7) If the switch or by-pass are adjusted too much, the by-pass and switch shut-off can overlap and THE PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF.

With a Faucet WIDE Open the pump SHOULD run continuously (counter clockwise adjustment on pressure switch screw until pump runs smoothly)
Then close faucet down to half flow.....turn pressure switch adjustment counter clockwise 1/4 turn (out)
Then turn bypass valve adjustment screw counterclockwise (out)until pump runs smooth
Close faucet down to a trickle ----enough to rinse off a plate
Then turn bypass screw counter clockwise (out) 1/4 turn

Pump should run smooth full open faucet and with a slightly more then a trickle flow.
If pump doesn't shut down when faucet closed...turn bypass adjustment screw clockwise (in) until pump stops (small increments)

Nice informative response.... Old Biscuit Until you get the hand of the adjustment of those pumps they can make you pull your hair out. Thanks

The pump is either out of adjustment or it is defective.

UPDATE: Water pump keeps running

Well I did as "Old-Biscuit said to do and that fixed my problem. I adjusted the pressure switch on the pump and it now goes off when there is no demand. Thank you for your help. Great Forum !!
