When do RV owners sell their RV's
At what point do RV owners look to sell their RV's. Is it by the year or the mileage and would you purchase a DP with 50,000 on it
Thanks
Dennis

Lots of different reasons:
Want a bigger rig.
Want a smaller rig.
Want a fancier rig.
Want a newer one.
Want an older, easier to fix rig.
Want more slides.
Want fewer slides.
Want a different floor plan.
Want.....
Want.....

I would purchase one with more miles than less miles. Low miles means it sits and more likely to develop issues IMO

Most larger diesels engines are not considered "broken in" until they have 100k on them..

Dennis, take a look at the NADA guide for RVs. Note that for Diesel coaches, there is no adjustment for mileage, unlike gasoline powered coaches.
That is likely your most telling fact.
Beyond that, take a look at the underpinnings of virtually every diesel powered coach, and you’ll find a chassis that is designed to support commercial OTR use.
In short, the average RVer isn’t going to wear out the chassis.
What does happen is the house begins to have issues, or more likely, the owners tire of the older technology and wish to have a refresh.
With that being said, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a carefully maintained used coach.
We bought our first pusher new because (in part) we felt a new coach was less likely to have problems, just like new cars.. right?
WOW! We were so very wrong, I shudder to think I was that gullible.
Learning from our experience, we believe buying a carefully maintained 1-4 year old coach is the wisest choice.
We bought our second new coach in spite of knowing it was going to be a huge pain for a couple of years. This was a very different perspective.
Unfortunately we weren’t wrong, but are gaining ground on the new coach issues, and only have a few outstanding issues to resolve.
We’ve been gluttons for punishment twice because we really like bunks, and those tend to be hard to locate used, for a rational price.

We are buying our 1st class A moving up from a 5th wheel. The Class A is a 13 Aspire purchased through a dealer and we were told it had 12,500 miles on the odometer. However it has like 50,000 miles on it. The coach should be here in about a week as they had to deliver the current owners new Anthem to RVONE in Orlando, FL.
We were looking at this as a stepping stone to eventually move up to an Anthem or Cornerstone. My concern is, if I put 40k on it (which we hope to do) my resale/trade in value crap.
I do believe that any mechanical devise is better use then left sitting.
Most of the RV's I see for sale normally have around this mileage or less so I figured this was the most opportune time to sell or trade up.

An issue that I have heard repeatedly is that a bank becomes completely uninterested in making any sort of loan on a coach that is more than 10 years old, so you need to be in a cash sale coach at that time.

Why is there so much difference in mileage that you were told and actual mileage???? Dealer deception or ?

I believe that the salesman was told the mileage while he was telling of the coaches availability so no it's not intentional or deception. They do have another 13 aspire coming in with about 10k miles but it's much more so apparently mileage must come into play.

Cool, I would opt for one of the lower mileage units unless there is a major price break. JMHO

In that case, if it’s well cared for, the mileage would not bother me. Again JMHO

Ann n Gene, I was not sure about the mileage but they say the coach is gorgeous. I have only seen pictures of the outside and it did look good. I guess I will get to see it in a week or so. Then off to Georgia for the winter.
