"which" Dish Receiver advise

Picking up Aspire next week and need help planning my dish equipment. I have Dish in my home, so I'm familiar with it. Dish and winegard just recommend the 211 single tuner in rv's . With a total of 4 tvs we want to watch and/ or record more than one channel at a time. I've read some posts that dual tuner with dvr (722) have a lot of problems in rv's because of the shaking/vibrations on the road. I'm considering buying two 211's and hooking up a external hard drive for the dvr ability. Any advise on what receiver(s) to use? Not sure how the wiring comes from factory. Any suggestions would be great. Also , it comes with in motion winegard on top and I have a winegard carry out that I'll use when needed for reception. Thanks in advance.

I believe the In Motion dome comes configured for Directv. It can, however, be configured for Dish. Just ask your dealer to take care of it for you.

Yep it's just a change to the dip switches.

We have dish at our house. Added a 211K to the motorhome with a external Hard Drive for recording , works great. There is a 2nd sat. cable in the bedroom for a 2nd receiver if you want. We had a Moto Sat HD dish installed.

I use dual receivers from Dish and have had nothing but trouble. I have 4 TV's and get reception on two. Once you have paid for the receivers, the service stinks.

I have a dual turner and it works perfectly. The vibration issue will not apply with your smooth riding Entegra!!!

I have a total "newbie" question about satellite reception. In our 2012 40DRQ I know we have the in-motion dome, but if we want satellite reception we need to buy a receiver based on what I'm reading (we have cable at home). Is it relatively easy to get a "pay as you go" option for Dish or DirectTV? I'd only want the reception 2-3 months per year.

Thanks for any guidance on this.

Dish has pay-as-you go, Directv does not. With Dish you can start and stop the service at will and only pay for the time that you use. Direct only allows you to suspend a maximum of two times per year, and for no more than 6 months total in any year.

Also, your dome can get HD with Dish but only SD with Direct.

Just to clarify a little more... If I buy a 211k receiver, I'll have to contact Dish to get the unit working in my coach. I've read that some people have had big issues getting Dish to properly setup the unit with software etc... I'm a technically proficient guy so I'm not too worried, but I want to make sure this is not one of those all day events with tech support at Dish not having a clue what they're doing...

Also, if I want to watch specific NFL games or other programs from my local market, I get the impression that's not easily done when you're on the road far from home...

That is correct. Neither company allows you to see your local channels once you get a couple of hundred miles from home (unless you live in NY or LA in which case you can get the distant network add-on and you will see your home channels).

DirecTV does have an NFL Ticket add-on that allows you to see all NFL games anywhere, at an additional cost. Dish does not offer this.

TerryO,
Forgive my ignorance but we got rid of Direct because of poor service and not being able to pause service. Question, since my HVH in motion is wired for direct you mentioned the dealer just needs to change the "dip" switches. Just what are dip witches and what is involved? It it a costly process? Thank you for our response.

Hi Claybox, that question is hard to resist, Most Dip Swithches reside in washington, we have changed many, but apparently not enough, now on with the task at hand, If you remove the top of the dome they will be located on a small control box , and if I remember it is out in the open, a few years back I went from direct to Dish, the configuration for both were in my manual or A call to manuf. with year and model should be all you need, just remember with Dish The #1 reciever controls the antenna meaning the other reciever can only watch programs on the same Sattelite unless # 1 is off and then # 2 controls satellite reciever, me Personally I'm removing dome and going to traveller , a little more work initially to rerun and add cables, but can have 3 tv's all watching whatever they want, DW, grandkids and the biggest kid, ME.
Hope this helps
