Mifi and other such devices will encounter varying speed depending on your location and the distance and busy-ness of the cell tower(s) around you. You may find that in the next place you go speeds will be much better. I had 30 meg speeds all the way to my destination but at the destination itself speeds were only 2 meg. It is just the way cellular comminications work.

Does your mifi card have antenna ports? Adding an internal window mount antenna will help a lot. My AT&T mifi card has 2 antenna ports. I use a suction mount mimo antenna and I average about 5MB up & down speed which is good enough to stream tv. My verizon mifi card only has 1 antenna port and at this location I am only getting about 1.5 MB up and down load speeds. Each location will yield different results for the different providers

Wi-Fi

For all those who have Verizon Mifi instead check out their new Smarthub. It can be plugged in full time and It works very well especially if you have an unlimited plan. Can have up to 200 devices although we use it for all 5 Arlo cameras and laptops.

Oh, one more thing, the Verizon smart hub must accentuate the signal. My phone fell off until I connected to the smart hub then we drive from Vegas to San Diego and never fell off!

I just talked with a new Entegra owner that was having to walk up the the bathhouse to get wifi at River Plantation in Sevierville. Not the way he wanted to start full timing. He was very pleased to learn about this forum and Mobley at $20. a month.

BTW, even as a test my Dave Bott system didn't hold a candle to the Mobley, but it is a backup and another tool to have.

Bill, yes we see just a slight impact on speed using a Bott/Mobley setup versus the Mobley by itself. I agree with the previous response regarding repeating messages slowing speed.

The good news is, using a Bott/Mobley setup relieves us of total device connected limits for a barely perceptible speed penalty.

In South Dakota we either didn't have any service, or it was super slow. Here in Pagosa, we can use multiple devices and stream movies no problem.

Regardless of the device used, there is no getting around areas of weak wireless infrastructure.

Prior to this trip, I had been using the Mobley at work continuously without issue. I really like this setup.

Best Regards,

-Matt

Where did you get the antenna for the Version Jetpack? Any details appreciated.
