Cam, I guess that's where I'm getting into trouble. I WAS equating a stronger signal with more capability for bandwidth. I'm as confused as ever! When we get our Aspire back, we are just going to have to experiment.

Rodsterinfl, I'd also run across the Sleek, and thought it would help get a stronger signal. As I said in an earlier post, I will be calling WFR support tomorrow to find outmore.

I delete most of my emails that have attachments that I have seen over and over or on subjects I don't care about. I do send out photo emails of our trip in Word format and send that email one time to a large mailing list. One of my forum sites is photo intense and I am still able to stay at the 2GB a month, but I do watch emails with large attachments, they do add up.

Some of us are lucky enough to still be holding onto grandfathered unlimited data plans. For as long as it lasts, it's nice! We ran ~35 GB last month. With a 4G connection streaming works quite well.

I thought VZ would not grandfather rate plans if you moved to 4G.

The Wi-Fi connection (speed and strength) is just one of many links between your computer and the site you're going to. If your Wi-Fi signal or speed suck so will your surfing experience. If your Wi-Fi singnal and speed are great you may still have a terrible surfing experience. Many CGs have a single internet connection and it has no more speed than your home cable or DSL connection. Unlike your home, everyone in the CG is sharing that same single connection. Also, many CGs use a wireless distribution network across the CG. Yet another choke point for your surfing.

My kid has satellite based internet as there's no other choi where she lives. It sucks! Even the throughput improvements can't help the 1/4 second delay that is unavoidable with satellite systems. I can't stand the delay, so for surfing it's not for me.

Not true; anyway we upgraded to 4G long before unlimited plans were discontinued. It's my understanding that you can't upgrade a MiFi from 3G to 4G without losing your plan, but there was no restriction on upgrading phones.

That is what happened to us - upgraded to a new 4G Phone and lose grampa. Argued and talked to VZ Customer NO Service. Didn't matter if it was a phone or a MiFi.

But maybe I'm just a wuss.

Remember, the unlimited plans do not apply when you use your phone as a hot spot. My unlimited Sprint plan will cut me off when I get to 2GB as a hot spot in a month. AT&T will start throttling you even on your phone.

If you can use a third party app for a hotspot, there is no way to tell how your data is being used. It is your data that you are paying for, so it is not as if it is being stolen. Verizon was fined $125 million for stopping 3rd party apps, but I cannot understand why the other companies were not fined.

Verizon doesn't cut you...they give you an opp to buy more at a reasonable price...if you don't and then exceed, they hammer you with an unreasonable price.

If u are Verizon check into foxfi app. I just downloaded it a few days ago and it is unlimited data. Works fantastic.

Foxfi is not unlimited data unless your data plan is unlimited. Foxfi just lets you use all of your paid for data as a hotspot. In my case, it's only 4GB

So far it is not adding g's of use to my plan. Hope it stays that way. I had a teather program once that didn't use any data from the plan. I was hoping this was like that.
