Winegard Wifi Extender
I received a Winegard email about this today. Looks like it's only been out about a month. I can't find any info on it that isn't on a Winegard based website. Camping World doesn't realize it's "available at their stores nationwide." Pretty high priced but the writeup makes it sounds almost worth it.
Does anyone have any more, non-Winegard generate, info on it?

The MSRP seems obscene. I would have to read 3 or 4 good technical reviews of its performance before I gave it any serious consideration.

It has latest 802.11ac technology, so a premium price adder there. RV specific, so another price adder. Priced not a lot more than some other high end RV specific offerings. Agree, will be interesting to see review results and discounted street price.
I like the ODU mounting. I don't like the inflexible antennas. My similar antenna sometimes takes a beating...

Chuck, I just ordered the pieces for David's setup this evening. The only tweak is I used the LR antenna and the bigger Nano, total with cabling was $122.
This was very popular over on the Tiffin forum, TRVN.
I saw the Winegard advertisement and thought it a bit excessive.
I will be using this primarily to link my PC based laptop running VMSPC with the iPad I will use to view the data. That it works in a park for WiFi is just a nice bonus for me.

I have the Ubiquiti "Bubble" system also. I use it as a portable WiFi booster when on business trips. It all fits in a small Pelican case. Fot $100 it simply can't be beat! (I have a TechnoRV / ALFA36 permanently mounted in the toy hauler trailer and it too is a winner!)
Many times in hotels the wifi is weak or terrible...or both.
I suction cup the antenna from the Ubiquiti on the hotel room window pointing at a McDonalds or a Starbucks and wifi away!
I also have access to 100,000 Xfinity wifi hotspots as I have Xfinity at home.
In most populous areas there are lots of Xfinity hotspot. The Ubiquiti picks them up and I have excellent wifi/internet performance.

Matt,
I store my MH in a hanger at a private air park a half mile from US 41 and at least that far to the nearest housing area. With just the standard equipment I picked up 6 wifi signals and 2 wireless TV signals on the first try with the standard system. I couldn't believe it, you should kill it with the larger antenna. Amazing for the price, but I can't see $550. for Winegards system. What more can it do? You can't speed up a wifi signal just receive it better.

I finally found the post from a few month back that really covered this subject well with some good input from Gary with his ham radio experience. I sure wish we had our old search function back.

It was this post that got me to try the Dave Bott system and sure glad I did.

And you can't make a bad internet connection in an RV park regardless of how much you spend on equipment. A slow or non-functional system or system in need of rebooting, or one intentionally limiting download sites or download speeds is fundamentally useless regardless of whether you spend $100 or $1,000. All these systems let you do is to bypass such a system and hopefully find a free McDonsls WIFI site located near you and use it, or abandon WIFI and switch to cellular broadband.
My experience with park WIFI is so bad that I have largely given up and buy a. Inch of cellular broadband and that us now the default.

When I received those test wifi signals I had the antenna sitting on the back of the passenger seat pointing out the windshield.
I have since mounted the antenna on a dash suction cup cell phone holder I had laying around. With that I can sit it on a table or suction cup it inside or out of a window. The test I did was inside of a metal hanger pointing outside of a windshield. With those results I doubt I would ever mount it outside to get a signal. If the wifi is that bad, I'll use the cell phone hot spot.

Has anyone tried the Pepwave Soho 3G/4G router with wifi? It has 2 paddle blade antennas that go on the router and it is suppose to amplify the signal to and from the access point. If need you can attach a external antenna. You can also thether your mifi card to it for faster speed. Looking at this solution to create a private wireless network plus adding a weboost 4GX cell booster that is both voice and data. Would like to hear from anyone who has used these components
Thanks Herb
