3rd party TPMS

Has anyone successfully installed a tire pressure monitoring system on an MB 3500 Sprinter? I have tried the kind that attach to the top of the valve stem, FAIL- save your money.

Not sure why you have problems with valve top cap sensors, like TST.

Caps work great, flow thru sensors can be a problem with any mfg.

What system do you have, and what type of sensors do you have, that you say are a FAIL?

Caps/sensors were too big to fit on the valves. They interfered with the hubcaps on a standard 3500 sprinter.
I bought a TST system. Click image for larger version

Ahh, I see.

Would a different valve stem, or possibly an extension (which I'm not a fan of) allow sensors to work??

Call TST help desk, I'm sure they've dealt with this problem before, and can suggest a solution. They are absolutely great to deal with.

I installed Borg Dually Valves front and back. Call with your specific models and wheels.

Lots have done this with all TPMS systems.

TST system works great on mine. Replace the OEM valve stems with metal ones - I had my tire dealer just use longer brass truck stems on the fronts and spare, and had them install Borg Dually Tire Valves on the rears. Worthwhile investment! ST

I would give the 'fail' to M.B, for giving you wheels with hubcaps !

Agree! Mine is a 2012 chassis, do the new models come with TPMS yet?

Nope. You want TPMS, you add it yourself. I've used the same TST system on my last three coaches. It works best on the Sprinter chassis if you use Dually Valve stems on all six wheels. Slight modifications (a ball-peen hammer works well) to the wheel simulators might be needed, however.

Not MB, the hubcaps are aftermarket, installed by the coach works. MB provides steel wheels, bare on the rear, and with a simple plastic hubcap on the front.

Ditch the wheel covers (hub caps cover the hubs, wheel covers cover the entire wheel) and go naked with the plastic MB hub caps on the front (betcha they are still installed under the chrome wheel covers/simulators.

I happen to LIKE my wheel simulators.,..! Like on previous rigs, I lace a couple cable ties thru the holes on the simulators and the steel rims - keeps them from shaking loose. ST

TST makes an internal system that works well. Don't need extensions but would still recommend DuallyValve for ease of airing.

Final update...
Success... purchased some Sprinter valve stems and traded the giant flowthru sensors for the smaller valve cap sensors. Click image for larger version

Suggestion for you - mark the sending units on the rear duallies as IN and OUT, so if you do have an issue showing up on the dash monitor you know which valve stem you add air to, etc.
