Cool Ashtray Assembly Removal

I've made many attempts to remove the center console ashtray assembly, but no go. I tried sliding thin narrow metal strips into the assembly's sides in hopes of releasing hidden 'catches' ... still no go. I don't see any screws to remove anywhere. This can't be that difficult.

Can anyone please advise how to remove this assembly Is excessive force needed?

I removed mine and made a drink holder and put there. I think I pulled up on the outer edge of it while pulling it out hard. Let me know if that doesn't work and I'll look at the ash tray tomorrow to see if I tell. Here's the pix (I hope).

What's an "ashtray"?
I remember when they were standard, now they aren't even an option in most cars let alone a motorhome!

I'm assuming he is talking about the pulled out cup holder tray deal.

Cool

Finally got it.

There are no screws, only hidden tabs that need to pressed from their normal position to allow removal of both parts of the ashtray assembly i.e. the ashtray carrier and the ashtray itself. Remove the entire assembly first, then remove the ashtray from the ashtray carrier. I used a stout trim tab tool to do both, but an appropriately sized screwdriver should work if one is careful and has lots of patience. Be careful not to loose two tiny springy things that will come out when you remove the ashtray from it's carrier.

These photos should help others.

Please advise if some other "URL" format is needed to see the above photos on photo-bucket.
