Sprinter Chassis Cargo Capacity Weight .. Ugh!

We have put a deposit down on a 2014 Coachmen 24g Sprinter chassis RV. We are in the process of inspections now. If all goes well, we will own it by next week. One thing I learned today, was that the cargo capacity is 1725 lbs. I really didn't know that a C Class had to be careful with their cargo weight so much. Now I am finding out that we do, at least with these little Sprinters. It will just be my husband and me and 4 dogs, but that will add up to 415 lbs right there. We won't have a ton of gear and only really plan on going out for weekends until my husband retires. Does anyone think that we will have trouble with our max capacity weight? We will not tow anything. But will have one bike on a rack on the hitch. I was told that you normally travel with 1/3 of your fresh water tank filled for flushing the toilet, so then that might be 160 pounds. I have no idea, but am interested in what other experienced Sprinter chassis owners think. Many thanks!

You should be OK with 1725 lbs of OCCC.
I have just under 1500 lbs, and we tow.

Keeping the fresh water capacity lower while rolling, helps.

You'll figure it out.

I would not worry about it. I have a 15 24J and I am travelling w dogs, people, full tanks and gear. not towing and getting almost 18mpg.

Make sure they have that rig aligned and you have new tires

Please get it weighed. Tell the dealer you want to weigh it. Do it with a full tankage. Keep in mind two people will be riding. Winnebago does the best job with OCCC. My 15 G Winnebago has 960 some like Tiffin have 680, your car can carry more.

Funny, I was just thinking about the 1725 lbs OCCC the OP was told, and thought it seems a bit high for a Sprinter based motorhome.

Good suggestion to get it weighed at a proper scale (CAT at a truck stop, or on the freeway at an inspection station) before you buy it. Sales people have been known to get it wrong sometimes, and apologize after they have your money.

Ours is 943 lbs. I also thought 1725 lbs was about as high as I have ever read.

Just two of us also and we make due. These are really not suitable for large families.

You are getting this information off the sticker on the driver door frame and not from some salesman (I hope).

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I guess i was scared that i would mess up really bad. I'm still thinking that I will need to keep it light just in case. We have a couple of metal dog pens I was going to bring, but now I'm thinking I will need to probably buy plastic versions of them. Does filling up the fresh water 1/3 sound okay to roll with?

I'm pretty sure the tires aren't new, but we can only guess at how much life they have in them. They got it on trade at an RV show, so I have no maintenance records or anything. I'm not sure that this dealership will replace them. We have already negotiated a price, but we haven't paid for it yet, only a deposit, which everything is subject to inspections. I am having my own tech come out too to do a pre-purchase inspection as well, so that we don't end up with a lot of extra expenses. If that goes well, then we'll sign on the dotted line. But since it's used, they only offered to fix what is wrong with it. I am not sure what they will say if my tech finds a whole bunch of stuff wrong. That could be the end of it. But I feel like my tech will be able to tell me if the tires are good enough are not. What do you think?
Thanks for your comments on your CCC. I talked to another Prism owner who sort of scared me about that. Not that they had anything bad happen, just cautioning me.

Sure I'll ask the dealer to weigh it! Thanks!

Here is the link to the brochure the guy at Coachmen sent me.

Check it out and see if it reads that way to you about the 1725 lbs CCC. Also, here are the specs on RVusa as well. They match, so I think it's okay. What do you think?

Here are a couple of links you can see if I got this right:

file:///C:/Users/Kristin/Downloads/Sept%202013%20-%20Aug%202014%20Prism%20Brochure%20(2).pdf

https://www.rvusa.com/rv-guide/2014-...an-24g-tr20643

They payload capacity matches on both of these. Am I missing something?

I'll be sure and check the sticker when I go in for our inspection! Thanks!

Just checking on your last statement. Did you mean that I need to tell the dealership to give me new tires? Or are you suggesting that I be sure and buy new tires right from the get go? thanks!
