Sprinter/ Navion Batteries
My 2015 Winnebago Navion 24V will be three years old this summer.
So far I have had no issues with either the coach batteries or the chassis battery. I have noticed that the fully charged battery reading are lower to about 12.8 volts for both sets of batteries.
Should I change the batteries at the three year period or continue on with the batteries.
I do check and fill the coach batteries before each trip. Mercedes told me the the chassis battery does not need servicing.
If I need new batteries what are the best batteries to purchase?

Keep using them until they no longer hold a charge. Let how you use the coach determine the type of battery to put in. Regular deep cycle lead/acid batteries are fine for routine use. If you do a lot of boondocking, then deep cycle 6V batteries, or AGM deep cycle batteries.

Until they are the same price as AGM and don't require a special charger, no.

There are also Carbon Foam AGM batteries.

Test the batteries with a Hydrometer, as long as they test good keep them.
Mine test good as long as you maintain them properly I expect at least 5 yrs. When I do change I will switch to Trojan 105 6volt, they will fit in the existing space and nearly double the usable capacity.

Hello, will not be using 2015 Navion for 3 months. Was planning on unplugging the Chassis Battery Connector, but unsure what to do with coach batteries. Can I just remove the negative battery cable? Thanks, David

Make sure the batteries are at full charge, water level covers plates- remove negative cable. If you're going to leave it longer put a battery tender on. Three months should not be a problem.

Using the disconnect switch, you can still have parasitic draw; propane alarm may still be active.
The batteries self-discharge depending on type of battery, example: (around 2–3% discharge per month). I'm sure we all know sulfation occurs in lead acid batteries when it is deprived of a full charge. Anything we can do to avoid sulfation will extend battery life.

Just to be clear, should I disconnect the negative cables from both coach batteries and chassis battery or just the coach and do the disconnect plug for chassis? Looks like it will be for about 2 months not 3. Thanks

Disconnect batteries
Chassis battery- above gas pedal is a red button (disconnect plug) on the negative battery cable, that is the disconnect, no need to get under the floor panel. Let the coach sit for 10 minutes after turning off the ignition to allow all the computer systems to shut down.
Under the step in the entry are the house batteries, disconnect the negative cable. That's it if you ever want to know more about your battery plant I have a great link to some documentation.
If you are storing for the winter pull the batteries from the smoke detector, I forgot last winter and heard the chirping when I walk by one evening. Replace them with new in the spring. Blow it out in the spring before putting it back into service, dust can cause it to false alarm. (Last spring experience)

I replaced my NAPA batteries yesterday with Costco GC 6 Volt. I am planning a trip south this winter and will park at rest areas. Given the propane heater uses 7amps running and othe use, I felt the upgrade was needed. Costco GC are 83.00. Ea. 210 amp hours. The NAPA are not a true deep cycle. I bought my 15 View in May of 15. They would probably would have worked fine, but I will feel better with my upgrade. My Costco Batteres have. Aug 17 date. It important to get batteries that are three months old or less.
The View has a great 4 way 45 amp battery charge. It will keep your batteries in top shape.

6-Volt Batteries for Winnebego View
Coffee Drink, how have the 6-Volt GC batteries from Costco worked out? Did your View have two 12-volt batteries house batteries?
