Battery bay filling with dirt and road grime

My palazzo battery bay is only a few months old and it looks 15 years old. It is full of dirt, road grime and dust covering the batteries and on the surface of all the metal. I can already see rust. The bottom of the battery bay has 3 vents cut into the metal. I can understand venting flooded batteries but the location of the vents is on the bottom near the front which is right behind the dual wheels, hence the road grime thrown right up in there. Anyone find a solution to keep this bay clean? I don't want to close the vents entirely.

You could close up the vents on the box side facing the duals, and create new vents on the backside or top of the compartment to allow the sulfuric acid and hydrogen gases to still vent.

Same here, I have thought about putting a vent type cover over the holes, opening toward the back. (Something like a dryer vent cover on the exterior of a house), I am thinking that would help but have not looked closely at the situation from underneath to see if it is doable....I also get h20 from rain that is thrown from the dual tires thru the holes as well.
