Gotcha! My Palazzo is in storage so I haven't had a chance to see how my reel fits yet. Since I'll be installing this myself, I wanted to know if I could just screw it right into the floor of the compartment? The compartment I'll be installing it in is deeper than the one you placed yours in, so hopefully it will fit fine.

I do have one concern, however. My compartments leak even though Thor replaced the seals when they did some warranty work last spring. The very next day, there was water in all the main compartments once again. I worry about the reel rusting should I just attach it right to the floor. I was also thinking that perhaps I could spray paint the bottom of the reel with black rust proof paint, just in case. I'm not sure if that will be enough. Any thoughts?

I'm not an expert handyman, but I do alright for a girl with some help here and there, of course, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The basement floor in my Palazzo is of a material that does not hold screws particularly well. If you run a machine screw all the way through the floor with a large OD washer and lock nut on the outside, this should hold the reel with no problem. However, be sure the chosen location works well for the hand crank and reeling the cable in. As far as rusting, either space the reel up with a painted wood base or try it without and make a change later if needed.

Thank you so much. I will definitely test it out first before securing it down.
