Door Lock Near Failure

Yesterday I finished a trip and when I tried to open the door from the inside the latch would not release. I saw that the screws had become loose and one screw was missing. I realized that I had no tools inside my MH so I used a small screw driver on my key chain. After tightening the screws the best I could and fiddling for a few minutes I opened the door. Later I found a replacement screw for the mission one and used Locktite on all of the screws. Looking further I saw that the two screws in the door edge holding the latch had also become loose so they got Locktite too. The problem could have been much worst depending on when and where the problem occurred. So check to see that all of the screws in your door lock are tight. Locktite is a really good precaution. I feel very lucky.

Thanks for the heads up. We are heading out to our Thor Diesel Club mini-rally in Marion on Friday, and then to the spring rally in Sevierville starting Sunday. Sanitizing for the year today and will check this door lock tomorrow when I purge the chlorinated water.

On our 2000 Dutch Star DP we had to use the drivers door to get out once. Screws had backed out on the entrance door and once fixed never happened again.

Great "heads up", I've only had my rig 6 months and have had to tighten those screws twice.

The door lock screws are not an issue if you watch them or use Locktite. BTW I am really enjoying the slide out panty I installed using your design. The slide mechanism is very high quality and it works well. I bought the same mechanism you used.
