not sure what you mean by 'all the power you can', but there are always OTHER items needing power when the Generator is running, such as Water Heater, 120v items that work off the Inverter, etc.
If you set the SHORE MAX too high, even when needing to charge the batteries while dry camping, you still run the risk of the generator breaker tripping, which leaves you with NO INDICATION that the breaker has tripped, unless you 'accidentally' look at the Magnum panel and it is reading: 'Inverting', instead of 'Charging'!
This is why I would keep it at 40-50amps, and also suggest that Magnum adds an Audible and Visual ALERT when the Inverter comes on from a loss of Shore or Generator power. You could set it to alert you, or bypass this if not, depending on how you want to handle it. A few 'beeps' would be nice, just in case.
The SHORE MAX button goes up to 60, I believe, as the max, which is close to the maximum output of the generator, if you have a 6kw Onan like me. I don't want ALL the power to go to the charger, even if I want to recharge the batteries, otherwise turning on something during that time, like the microwave, might easily trip the breaker if the Charger is in 'BULK' charging mode.
But, you can certainly try it at the max setting and see what happens. During our drycamping, and traveling, over the last several days in the Yukon, our generator has run maybe twice on the AGS, even with very little sun for the solar panels. The batteries have held up well, and everything is working as planned.
Now, just to find a dump station...
1)MillionDollarFalls CG (BritishColumbia, right above Haines, AK)
drycamping at it's best, large long sites... and right on the most beautiful and rushing falls you'll ever see - a loud night for sure!
2)Haines Hwy toward the US BORDER and Haines, AK
while roads from Anchorage to BeaverCreek YT and to Haines Junction YT
were the WORST! the turn from Haines Junction YT toward the US Border
and Haines AK was the best roads we've seen in a MONTH... Eagles, too.
