Extended Service Plan

Have any of you fellow Palazzo or Tuscany owners purchased an Extended Service Plan ?? If so which one and have you used it ??
I guess some purchased it from the dealer when you purchased your coach.

We are 4 months out of warranty and it makes me a little nervous.

Quoted one and it's 3 years with a $250 deductible and costs about $4,500. (Good Sam)

any advice is appreciated.

We purchased a Good Sam ESP at Camping World. It cost us $4,400 for 7 years full coverage with a $100 deductible. I would check with them.

Probably not the best advice...

As a veteran insurance agent, and full-timer in a 2014 Palazzo 33.3 with my family - I would probably not advise an extended warranty plan, especially at the prices they normal cost.
The fact is, many 'extended warranty' claims wind up being less in cost to repair than the actual cost of the plan itself, and unlike insurance, you have to pay the full cost up front. There is also certainly no refund if you never make a claim, either.
My best advice: save several thousand dollars a year to your 'warranty repair fund' and pay any repairs yourself. If nothing ever happens, you'll still have your money. : )

Check with Wholesale Warranties and see what they have to offer. I am happy with my plan and the service so far. RV Extended Warranty Coverage, RV Warranty Specialists - Wholesale Warranties for RV Repair

I had Good Sam when I bought a used Sightseer. The A/C needed replacement which they paid for no problem. We traded in the Sightseer when the Palazzo was purchased and used the prorated refund to purchase Good Sam again for the Palazzo. Now, my problem with Good Sam is they do not pay for covered repairs to be made by the owner. Some plans will pay for the parts when the owner does his own work, which is what I would prefer.

When I got the Palazzo I also got the Good Sam Extended Service Plan. Fortunately I have not had to use it so cannot comment on whether it is worth it. I'm hoping I don't find out.

X2 - any analysis I have ever read concerning these types of warranties said they are not a good investment. MisterT's advise is, for most people, the smartest way to go. IMHO

Extended Service Plan

I agree, extended warranty plans are ripoffs. My dealer sold me one from a company named Portfolio. Tried calling them couple of times, it was nothing but an exercise in playing phone tag. I just got transferred around just to find out if i was in the system or not. I hate to call them again for getting reimbursement for any repairs. Also, I found out my dealer charged me 3.5 times the price of the refund I would get if I wanted to cancel them. Just the fact the dealer lied to me about the plan and early cancelation policie, I just find these rv dealerships are nothing but crooks.

Extended warranties in general favor the company selling the warranty! I do not care where you go, Best Buy, Costco, Sears, almost anywhere they try to sell you an extended warranty at check out. Why, because it is BIG money for the company selling the insurance and the odds are in their favor! You will read a few stories about the people that used and was satisfied with their extended warranties but what about the thousands that never used their warranties and paid thousands for some peace of mind.

Let us talk about Thor Motor Coach. Thor provides a 1 year warranty on the part that they build, the box. All the vendor components, microwave, frig, tires, water heater, etc. all have their own warranty. Most of these components will fail quickly if they have some manufacturer defect so if they will work for a year they will work for their intended life cycle. I would like to say that Thor will repair their part long after the warranty expires if you are willing to take it to their customer service area in Elkhart or you attend the International Rally every year in October.

The chassis, engine, transmission all have much longer factory warranties and if one of these fail you would take it to Freightliner, Cummins, Allison, etc. for repair. With proper maintenance these items should last far beyond their warranties.

I feel that extended warranties are a waste of money but to each his own! If you need the peace of mind go spend the money...

Thanks Jack, I agree.. I decided against it and as someone else suggested I put the money I would have spent away in a separate RV account to cover anything that may come up. Later this year I may try to pick up a 2015 Tuscany when they are trying to move them for the 2016's and use towards a down payment

That's what I am doing. Hopefully it pays off. The dealer I purchased my 2007 from gave me a 90 day ESP through Xtra Ride. I pulled oil samples on the engine, tranny, and gen before I made the purchase. I have been fortunate to communicate with the only previous owner, and all maintenance was performed. With any luck, my accumulation account will exceed my repairs and be there for future RV purchases.

Extended Service Warranty

We purchased one from the dealer for our 2014 33.2. I don't purchase extended warranties for other items, but my thinking with an investment of this magnitude that it made sense from a re-sale value. The warranty is entirely transferable and I think that makes it more attractive at some future time that we sell our rig. If I were purchasing a used RV, it would be an attractive attribute for me.
In order to keep our warranty in service, we have to do an annual maintenance list that is minimal (change fluid, lube, check for leaks, clean furnace and water heater). Those are all maintenance items that we would do anyway.

Love it !!! much more quiet to drive than the Rubicon and we don't even know its back there while towing.

I need to go to a truck stop and weigh everything again towing the new jeep though. The rubicon weighed in around 4200 pounds and this one is a little more.

I'm sure yall are getting ready for Tampa. We would be there too but are leaving for Disney the weekend before Mardi Gras. We told the kids to early because they ask everyday if we are leaving to see Mickey yet
