Fresh water tank black panel brackets

The cheap pieces of wood used to hold the screws for the black panel were splitting and starting to rot, so I made up some aluminum ones with nutserts and used knurled knobs with machine screws to replace them. Now I don't need a screwdriver to change the water filter cartridge.

I just removed my 'black panel' cover to the water tank very early on, didn't see any need for it - now I can SEE how much water I have. I also moved the filter and water pump over into the wet bay, with the filter mounted against the left wall, and the water pump just sitting on the floor under and behind the gray tank outlet - Thor should do this as a matter of course - I removed probably 20' of unneeded water tubing. Now the filter is much easier to get to, and the water pump just sits on top of a silicone 'doggy bowl' that keeps it quiet. No need to even 'mount' it.

I've seen your excellent post on the plumbing mods, but was not quite ready to pull the trigger on reworking it, yet. I like the black panel in place as I stack items in there I don't want damaging the pump or hoses.

But you just gave me an idea to re-enforce the panel and cut a slot to see the tank level.

Perhaps a piece of plexiglass over the hole you'll cut someday?
That way you can have both visibility and protection for the hoses and such.

I also like to keep the black panel in place. I did away with the screws and glued magnets to the panel and the wood blocks. Easy on easy off.

Great idea too! Except my blocks were going bad so I had to replace them.

I also moved the filter and water pump to the wet bay. Added another two filters to the system. They sit on the left side of the wet bay against the wall. Very easy to change them all as well as bypass them if you need to winterize.
