Generator Starter Switch on a 2017 Palazzo?

Is there only one generator starter switch on a 2017 Palazzo? Mine doesnít want to start from the one on dash. I had a Thor toy hauler that had two places to start the generator one on a control panel and one on the dash

It would help if we knew the generator type.

Most units have a start switch located on the generator in addition to any switches in the RV.

You might get better response if you ask your question here

Do you hear clicking sounds when you press your start button? Diesel generators click for quite a while to warm up the glow plugs before they turn over. They are a little different than the gas gen set you might be used to.

As Mnoel pointed out, diesel generators require the button to be held for a good few seconds before the generator fires up. I think I have to hold my generator button for a good 15 seconds or so to start mine.

Correct, depending on temperature longer or shorter. It knows. Not only that, if you hold the switch the other way on mine you activate the primer. Needs that if it hasn't been run in a long time.

When all else fails, read the instructions.

"Ron and Flo".....You didn't give much info other than a 2017 Palazzo. I see that it's your first post and welcome. In the future, asking about issues, is just like taking your car to a repair shop for a problem. You need to provide a detailed description of what is occurring.

If you haven't used it much and it's an Onan diesel, you need to hold the inside start button down in the OFF position for at least 15-20 seconds and longer in cold weather. The light in the start switch should come on, even when the switch is held in the OFF position, showing that the generator is priming and prepping to start. After a period of time, release the switch and press it towards START. Again, you may have to sold it for several seconds.

If the above is not the issue, I've never seen an RV generator that did not have a start switch built onto the nose of the diesel or side of a gas unit. If neither starts the generator, you may want to start your coach, push your "Merge" button on the dash, that merges your coach batteries with your engine batteries, and then push the generator start button at the same time. This will tell you if it's a battery issue.

If all that fails, you'll need to take it in or do further troubleshooting.

If it then starts, that would indicate your house bank was dead. Me thinks he would have noticed if nothing else 12V in the house was working.

And, even if the house bank is alive, doesn't mean there's 12V at the generator.

ONLY way to verify that is to get under there with a meter.

Except for a broken generator, the ones that haven't started for me were due to low or dead house batteries. Are you hooked up to shore power? Did you try using the emergency start button to use your chassis battery to start the genny?

Some of the units have a second switch in the MR bedroom

Otherwise what has been said, wait for the glow plug

Send additional info as there are many good folks that have been there and done that on the forum

I have a 2018 33.3 and it has a start switch on the generator, on the dash, and on the Master Bedroom Firefly panel. The 2017 will be different, but at a minimum it should have a start switch on the generator and on the dash.

Before I became experienced on my unit, I would press and hold down the bottom of the start switch on the dash until the green light would come on. Then I push and hold the top of the dash button until the generator started. Standard procedure, but there were times when it didnít start and I thought something was wrong. Actually if I had held down the top of the start switch just a few seconds longer it would have started. In others words, I was impatient and didnít wait long enough for it to start. During cold weather, it would take even longer to start, but I found it would always start if I just waited long enough.

Sometimes you have to hold it for what seems like a long time 30 seconds or so before it turns over. Mine has switch on gen set, on dash, by master bedroom light switch and on my firefly master control panel.
