Looking at a Palazzo
Hi,
I am a new member and currently have a 28' Jayco class C. We are looking to upgrade and give the kids our current unit (it is in perfect condition)! We like the layout of the Palazzo 33.2, but have heard about problems with the slides. Any input from current Palazzo owners?
Thanks,
Mike

By the way. The dealer we talked to at Camping World said the Winnebago was the best coach on the road. This is our last RV purchase and I don't want to mess up.

Lots of great coaches. Newmar, Entegra, and Tiffin are probably all a cut above Winnies and maybe two above Thor. OTOH - Floorplan rules

Review the slides repair history of used coaches to make sure you are not buying one with manufacturing defects. It seems no one is having permanent success on getting these slides fixed. If new, I would suggest paying an independent expert to inspect the slides before making a purchase. The 2015 models should have the 3 track system on the large slide, which hopefully is a plus. In my opinion the reason to buy a Palazzo is because of the price, floor plan, and diesel pusher.

Agreed: Floor Plan - our choice was for a bunk house hallway model with the front electric drop down queen bunk - this may be one of the only diesel pushers with a front bunk
Agreed: Diesel Pusher - our 300hp Cummins with 6spd Allison trans has had NO problems thru any mountains or passes that we have traversed, including the Tennessee Smokies, Northern Rockies, Big1 California Beach Cliffs, and everything in between - 11.4 mpg average over 19k miles!
Agreed: Price - our 2014 model was sandwiched between two new 2015 models in August, so $10k price drop off the already low price, with no real difference between the two - got ours at MHSRV in AlveradoTX
[deal with an rv dealer who will allow you to stay several days/nites
at their dealership, take the unit for a shakedown testdrive during
your stay - you will find several items that the dealership can
button up before you even leave the lot!] Happy RVing!

Thanks to all
Thank you all for your great input! Our final decision will be around the May time frame (once the last kid is out of college). We have been RVing for 15 years so understand the issues.
Thanks again!

Have you looked at any of the Fleetwood Excursion models? I looked at both and went Excursion 33D due to the quality concerns on the Palazzo. I think there are similar floorplans and prices.
