Mod: Shower curtain vs glass sliding doors
I removed our shower doors and tracks today to find and solve a corner leak issue, when the mrs. said "why not just a shower curtain?".... so...
we picked up an 'Extend a Shower' fancy adjustable shower curtain rod from CW, and ...
-about $38 on sale, with $20 curtain and rings...
-and about 3 hours...

Shower doors suck. First thing I did when we bought ours was rip out the doors and put in rod and curtain.
You'd be much happier, however, if you used a clear plastic curtain. Lots more light. Stay out of CW, try Walmart or Bed Bath and Beyond. Much cheaper.

Looks great. Good job on that mod. We are considering doing the same.

We have done the same on two different RVs. Can't say enough good things about the Extend-A-Shower rod.

Did the same in our prior RV but used a "shapeable" curtain track kit from Recmar. Worked great!

once i took the first shower, tho, i realized that one must also add some sort of water stop at both ends of the entry ledge. Enough caulking might do, but we chose to use the top door track, flipped over, to provide a 'dam' for the entry ledge.
Admittedly, Thor did not use good judgement when using this four piece shower units. If you notice, the bottom lip of each wall curves in toward the wall at the bottom. It sounds reasonable, until you look at the ends at the front ledge which provide a perfect 'waterfall' edge for all the water that runs down the walls. Since our coaches are probably never 'really' level, it certainly shows itself problematic when you are ever so slightly tilted toward the front(at least in this shower configuration).
Thor 'solves' the issue by applying liberal caulk. But if your shower pan is like mine, the entry edge has a lot of 'give' if you step on it, which can only add to the caulking separation possibilities.
oh well... anybody need any shower doors?

To understand post 7, this is what post 6 looked like when I posted my

update: the shower curtain replacement with the adjusta-rod is working very well for the 4 of us, no more leaks, and the curtain is easy, less weight, and the shower is much easier to clean since we can now get to every part - seems like a lot more room now, too, with the adjusta-rod feature...
