Motorcycle Lift

Has anyone added a motorcycle lift to the back of a Palazzo? The one I am considering (Hydralift) would add about 1200 lbs to the back of the coach (including the bike). I have a 36.1.

If so, did it affect the handling of the coach in any way?

Some coach mfg do not want you to carry motorcycle on back because of the rear radiator. At least that is what I understand

That's a lot of weight to cantilever off the back of your coach. It will also unload the steer axle somewhat. I think I would contact Hydralift & get their input first.

You have to be careful not to overload rear axle. It is rated 17500 lbs, and in my case rear weight is 16380. So adding 1200 lbs would put me over the limit by 80 pounds.

It's not ideal but here's how we carry two full bikes and gas (since the diesel can't provide a "reserve".

For Rear Lifts have your front & rear axle weighted when loaded for travel.

Then you can add on the extra weight of a lift by below.
Measure the distance from the center of rear axle to the center of the weight(Lift)

Divide that number by the RV’s wheelbase.
Multiply the result by 100 to get percent.
That percent of the load is added to the load and becomes the total load added to the rear axle.
That percent of the load is subtracted from the front axle weight and unloads the front axle by that amount.

800 lb bike, Lift 100 lb=900 lb
Center axle to rear 120” wheelbase 240”
120 divide by 240=0.50 X 100= 50%

Weight is 1350 lb added to rear axle
Front axle will be 450 lbs lighter
