Palazzo Battery

One other question: We have a 2013 Palazzo. The chassis alternator does not charge the auxiliary batteries when the chassis engine is running. I pressed the charger on/off button on the inverter remote control while the chassis engine is running and nothing happens. The inverter is on the whole time and runs the auxiliary batteries down. We need to start the generator while on the road to charge the auxiliary batteries. Has anyone had this problem, and if so, how did you resolve it?

I don't have aPalazzo but I can't imagine a new(er) coach not having that ability. It sounds like a bad relay or control unit, can't remember the actual name.

Inverter should be on only when you turn it on, not all the time. But charging is automatic on mine when the engine is running. Maybe you are turning the charger off?

The chassis alternator is supposed to charge ALL batteries while you drive and that is the way it works on my coach. We run the inverter the entire time to keep the frig, TV, etc. running. The only time I start the generator is when I want to run the house A/C while we drive to keep the rear cool.

I would discuss with Thor, may be an easy fix, fuse, wire disconnected, etc.

Simple question here ... While driving, do you have the store/use switch switched to the use position? I've found that if in the store condition with the engine running the coach batteries will not be charged by the alternator.

Switch in the USE position. Inverter ON.

Good point, Tom ... On my 33.2 the solenoid that controls connection of the chassis batteries to the coach batteries is just to the left of the inverter housing in the compartment. First thing I would check for is 12 volts on the small terminals that energize that solenoid with the engine running. If not there, that would explain the lack of alternator charging for the coach batteries.

One quick way I check for position of the switch (engine on or off)... if I can turn on the radio or ceiling lights... it is in the USE position.

The first thing I look for is the time displaying on the radio. No time then the switch is in the "Store" position.
