Palazzo pulling 1/2 ton pickup
Hi all, we’re considering pulling a pickup behind our 33.3. What has been your experience with the palazzo pulling a truck? I know the 300hp engine is on the smaller end. We currently have a Jeep Patriot for a toad. So I’m also concerned about the length and width of the pickup.
I’m considering the Ford F-150 supercrew or Chevy Silverado crewcab. So the full two row seating will add length
Thanks

In Florida we had a neighbor who pulled a full size pickup, two door, down from Maine with his 33.2. He had a motorcycle in the back too. No complaints from him back and forth across country.
We had a HR with a 270hp that we pulled a full sized bronco all over the Rockies It was just a matter of understanding down shifts and managing expectations. Now with 600hp monsters the expectation is 80mph up the hill with the toad.
No matter what, make sure you get some good aux brake system. Hp, cant match that.

I pulled a Jeep Patriot too. Now, I pull an Expedition. I didn't notice any difference in driving.

I tow a modified 2013 Jeep Wrangler JKU (4 door) that weighs about 4200 pounds. We have pulled it for almost 5 years over most of the country, and while I definitely know it is back there on steeper climbs it's a matter of managing your gear selection and expectations.
Weight of the truck and your overall combined weight is more the issue than the length or width of the toad.

I have 2018 33.2 have pulled a Toyota Tundra 4 door (with drive shaft disconnect) for over 12500 miles... No issues whatsoever. Just understand check your the weight limits of your vehicle, and make sure the vehicle you get stays in those limits.... I think some pickups... Especially heavy duty one are too heavy...

As has been said, the most important thing will be overall combined weight and don't forget to count all your gear and people. I would weigh your coach fully loaded then you will know better what your towing capacity is. You will need the weight of the pickup. I pull a jeep grand Cherokee and hardly even know it is there. It is about 4000 pounds give or take

Did you have any problems with your patriot transmission? I’m at 125,000 miles and I have to rebuild the trans for a second time

No. It was a 4WD 4 speed (2013). I towed roughly 15,000 miles with no problems. I kept a checklist (from the owners manual) to make sure the Jeep was ready. I've towed the Expedition about 10,000 miles; no problems. I have a checklist on my phone for the Expedition.

Tow a 2004 Z71 Suburban, no issues. It’s 4x4 with a transfer case that can be put in neutral for flat towing.

Palazzo pulling 1/2 ton pickup
Your Palazzo has Atlas 2100 transmission and rated ~5k towing capacity
I have done extensive research on this towing BS
And all of mine tow pigs are ~7 to 8,500 lbs
So I ended up with Aria 360/Atlas 3000 combo good for 10k towing and it’s still sloooow going uphills
Rule of thumb is
~300bhp/Atlas 2100 ~5k towing
~340bhp/Atlas 2500 ~7.5 k
~360bhp+ /Atlas 3000 10k
Atlas 3000 is used all the way up to 450bhp big blocks
U can tow more in any combo but you transmission lifespan will be a lot shorter

Ive towed over 5000# without any problems and still been under the GCVWR. It really isn't even very noticeable back there unless it is a very steep grade up.

thank you for the comments. I'll let you know if I choose a pickup and how the Palazzo does towing it around the country. For now, we still have the Jeep Patriot and the manual transmission hasn't failed for a second time......yet.
