Replacing Couch with 2 recliners

Has anyone replaced their couch with a couple of recliners. We think this would suit us better and be more comfortable. Any input as to where it can be done or brands etc would be appreciated. Thanks Gary

On one occasion I replace with Lazy boy recliners, got a good deal and the back slides into the base so they were easy to install. On my present coach the coach was replaced with 2 Flexsteel chairs.

Yep, we did it a couple years ago. Really like the change, the grandson, who lost a bed, well not so much! Bought two La Z boy recliners on sale and took the old couch out. Gave the couch to my son who gave it to someone else that needed a couch.

I have been looking to do the same with the couch in my 36.1. I was actually looking for a three seater couch with recliners built into it. No matter where I went, I couldn't find anything to fit.

The problem is that the couch sits on a four inch high platform that is part of the slide. They don't make recliners to fit on these. You can find two inch ones, but not four. If you put a standard height recliner or sofa onto the slide platform, you run the risk of hitting your head on the cabinets above the couch. I actually tested it out. It didnt' feel good!

I called four different manufacturers without any success. While in Elkhart, I visited every place I could find. I even spoke to Thor's designer who gave me the name and number of a company in CA who makes stuff for them. No luck there either.

If you know of anyone or any place that makes or sells these, please let me know. At this point, I'd be happy with two recliners if I couldn't find anything else. They just have to be able to fit on a four inch high platform.

Here's ours. They're LazBoys, and the backs come off for easy install.
