Keep the old one. I salvaged the brass bypass valve and used it to replace the plastic one.

Berlin, I keep all old parts exactly for this reason.

I also have some air on the hot water side that I didn't have after I the line was primed. Any thoughts?
I had to replace the selector valve when it started filling the holding tank while on city water & would over flow the tank. Seems that is the common failure of the valve. It was still under warranty at the time but costs around $150. It's cheaply made with the hot water tank valve being brass but the selector switch valve being plastic, not sure why they did it that way. It's all one unit & comes with the plate & selector knobs.
