Swap Propane Stove for Induction Electric Cooktop

Has anyone swapped out their 3 burner propane stove for a combo electric induction /propane cooktop like they are offering in the new models? What stove did you use? How difficult was it? Does it require 240v wiring?

Not gas, but swapped out my resistance electric cooktop for induction , and wife is very happy, also about 3 less amp draw when cooking. It was a 110 volt unit.

I replaced the gas cooktop with a dual induction model in our 33.2. Had a piece of corian cut to fit where the gas cooktop was located and put the induction there, thus preserving the original two piece matching countertop cover and extra counter space.

I used a True Induction 2B model, which has a smaller footprint but same performance as the full size model. Power requirement is 120 volt, 1800 watts with 15 amp maximum draw. The unit limits overall power used between the two hobs, so you can have both at 5, for example, or one at 1 and the other at 9. Power was supplied by extending a line from the washer outlet since we don't have a washer or dryer installed, and use that space as pantry.

Note: the induction cooktop does not work right with a stepped or modified sine wave inverter, you will need to have a true sine wave inverter if you plan to use the induction from battery power. I carry a propane camp stove as a backup.

Got rid of the propane stove altogether, replaced with True Induction 2 burner, portable.

Thanks for the feedback and help. I have been looking at this model. Propane and induction. I haven't done measurements yet to see if it is same size or if counter needs to be modified. Does anyone know? I like that it is only 120v. Much easier to wire!

I have not seen that model before. Based on the measurement shown it would not fit in the space that is currently covered with the standard recessed gas cook top but if you wanted to surface mount it would work. I personally wanted to preserve the counter space but your needs may be different.

Thanks. Looks awesome. Did you get an entire new countertop installed with that remodel?
