Vacuum Pump...

Hey Guys/Gals!!! Its been awhile since Ive been here, hope everyone is well .... Its that time again for us.... This time out we are going all out. From NJ to California, 2 month trip.... woooot woooot!

Getting the Palazzo up and ready and just noticed our vacuum pump for the cabin air is not shutting off.... I remember there is a pressure switch somewhere along the line, anyone know where it is? Luckily, the vent is open and cold air is venting on the dash... so for now I just unplugged the pump so it wont burn out. Is the pressure switch in the pump? I did a search and it is burried in one of those mile long threads.... it would take days to go through it. Also, i recall that some members have replaced the pump as well. Anyone remember that post or know the replacement pump. I guess I will look for a leak... but before I do, I would consult the knowledge base here.

Anyway, hope everyone is healthy and well. See you on the road!

The pump looks like the one used on ford trucks. Check this video out.

wow, that vid is really helpful. Thanks Myarmar....Will check it out tomorrow. When I ran the dash AC, I checked the vac pump and it stopped running... so, that pressure switch is on the edge of its threshold. Will do a quick calibration and report back here.

You may have a leak somewhere. Try to disconnect hose and plug pump inlet, see if it stops.

Btw, Is that big black square box in the front (next to the vac pump) is where the flaps (vac hoses) are eventually located?

Yes, but most of it is under the dash. Here is the troubleshooting guide for our (or very similar) system.

I had a similar problem when de-winterizing last year, the pump seemed to run forever so I unplugged the power. A couple of days later I wanted to do some fault-finding so I plugged it back in and tried a few selections on the control panel (including AC) and after several minutes of continuous running, the pump turned itself off and began working properly. It's been functioning normally now for over one-year. I'm thinking maybe moisture in the vacuum lines was the cause. In any case, my coach certainly doesn't appreciate being stored for three or four months each year. This year I had seven faults to rectify that weren't apparent when it went into storage.

I had the exact opposite problem. The pump would not run unless I tapped it with a screw driver. Thor sent me a new one. I still have not used it yet. I am waiting till the old one completely gives out. It is a pain, however, to have to go outside and open the front cover to tap it when you are all ready to roll, but the A/C is blowing cold on the floor and not on the upper vents because there is no vacuum on the flappers. LOL
