Want step by step info for BIRD & Trombetta to BMI

I am looking for step by step , wire by wire nstructions on removing Intelletec BIRD control & Trombetta isolation relay and replacing them over to the newer solid state BMI controller from Precision Circuits .

Does anyone have experience doing this and can you make a step by step guide to do it ?

Needing info ASAP

Thanks

I know this is an older post but I ordered a BMI and it should be here later this week. Once I start the process, I'll try to take pics and hopefully a step by step. Let's hope it goes according to plan :-)

Thanks, That would be FANTASTIC. I do not like the BIRD controller and the Trombetta relay. I look forward to seeing your set up report.

OK, I wired up the BIM - you will need to have a ring connector.

DON'T make the same mistake I made. Ensure you order the correct BIM - So order the 00-10041-250 to be safe.

I bought directly from: https://www.ltdrvparts.com/PRECISION...-10041-250.htm

Take Pictures BEFORE doing anything. Also look for the Trombetta and label all of the wire pairs - The white and purple are easy to identify. See my pic for reference.

I used a voltmeter to ensure I had the Chassis feed and then the Coach feed.

DOUBLE check everything

Are your wires labeled? Did you take Pics?

Disconnect the coach from power and then disconnect the batteries - both Chassis and Coach

Use a voltmeter to ensure your feeds to the Trombetta are not live.

Disconnect all wires from the Trombetta.

Using the image I copied from another thread, wire up the BIM. Coach to Coach, Chassis to Chassis and white to white and purple to purple,

Now take the Yellow Ignition wire off the BIRD and cut the end off. Crimp on a wire ring connector.

Connect the Yellow Ignition with new ring connector to the Ign of the BIM

Tie off the remaining 3 wires from the BIRD.

I used the Trombetta attach point to attach the BIM to my coach.

Connect the Chassis and Coach batteries

Should work
