Warning Palazzo leveler causes breakdown

Palazzo 33.2 2014. The yellow return hydraulic lines on the front/passenger side leveling jack on my Palazzo rubbed against the step well. Line failed in Arizona and alarms went off as leveling system sensed a jack was not fully up. Luckily we had just pulled off at our campsite for the night. Drove there with the alarms going off. After calls to Thor and Lippert, I was able to tie the jack up, remove the pump fuse, disconnect the control box and drive home to Virginia. Replacement hose cost $70 and took me 4 hours to install.

I suggest all 33.2 owners check their front/passenger side leveler jack. If a hose (in my case both return hoses were touching the step well) is touching the frame all you need to do is loosen the nut closest to the jack and rotate the 90 degree elbow a few degrees until the hose no longer touches the frame. Re-tighten the nut and you're done.

MSMALLFIELD Wow!!! My 2014 33.2 with 47k miles did same thing April 2nd on way to Metropolis Il. Tried repair at Harrahs Casino. Gave up since I couldn't get to zip ties above fuel tank. Pulled pressure switch wire to silence alarm. Freightliner in OKC says they'll do it on April 13 if I'm back in time. How did you cut zip ties? I gave up after a very dirty oily hour and a half. Really miss them. Peter

If I had to do it again, I'd cut the end off the bad hose near the jack and pull it out. Then I'd pull in the new one next to the wire/hose bundles and tie wrap it to them. Not cut any ties. Simpler, faster and no risk of cutting something you shouldn't.

Here's what I did. I ran my RV front wheels up on leveling block (three sets) so I could get under the rig. Put jack stands under the frame and chocked the rear wheels.

I tied a nylon string to the end of the hose near the jack. Pulled the hose out and then used the string to pull the new hose in. Put a plug into the end of the new hose to keep dirt out while we pulled it in. My wife helped pull the new hose back and forth to work it through the ties. I did have to cut 3 of the ties. Before I cut each one I put a new one in place, put it together and tightened after the new hose was installed. I was very concerned that I might cut something other than a tie. Couldn't get wire cutters any where near a tie. I used a scissor on a couple and a box cutter on one particularly hard to get one.

Access was a real problem. I managed to squeeze up beside the fuel tank on the drivers side and reach across the tank to access the lines.

FYI I checked the other jacks and the lines were OK. I'm guessing the factory installed the levelers early on and never checked the clearance to the stairs after the body was installed.

Just reread my reply. My bad hose ran to pump up front. If you are changing the line that runs from the passenger side jack to the driver side jack, it's much, much easier. If you can squeeze up next to the fuel tank on the drivers side you can access the lines and ties. I'm 6 foot 165 lbs with very long arms.
