Whirlpool Refrigerator Non-Compliance

We just got home from 9 weeks on the road and had a letter from Whirlpool dated May 15, 2014, stating that the refrigerator in our 33.2 was in non-compliance with federal energy conservation regulations.

Has anyone else received such a letter? If so, did you call Whirlpool and what was their response?

My current opinion is that I want them to replace our fridge with one that meets the standards.

We have a 2014 33.2 with a Whirlpool as well but haven't received a letter (yet). Will be interested in learning more.

No big deal I mean it might cost you an additional $1 a year because it's not as energy efficient as the newest ones. Beside you're using the campgrounds electric and not paying for it.

Here's a link to a noncompliance document on the energy.gov website for Whirlpool. I read recently somewhere that manufacturers are being cracked down on for labeling products Energy Star when they are not, usually due to a manufacturing change that reduced efficiency. This may be the case for your fridge.

As D Lindy said, all it means to you is it's a little less efficient than the Energy Guide label says so you'll pay a little more to operate it.

I finally got through to Whirlpool and they said my model/serial number was not one of the non-compliant models.
