Locally, NADA shows a low of 26.5K and a high of 31995!!! That's without picking any specific options, since ORV back then didn't have many!! Most everything on the lists are standard. Looks like a private party, not a dealer?? If a dealer, you may have some room for a lower offer, a private party, flashing cash can do a lot!!!

I personally wouldn't take that total as being anywhere near the real world value. Almost all of those "adds" are standard equipment which is reflected in the original list price. Real used price in my opinion is what NADA shows without any of the "options". AND, if you took that to a dealer to trade one of these in, he would "chuckle"!!!

Our 280RKS was built in Feb 2016, making it an early 2016 model (or a late 2015!!), and missed out on a few standard stuff such as the solar prep and a couple of others. The base price was $45,750 before the dealer add on screw you stuff!!! Out the door we spent right at $36,500 before the state asked for their due.

Prices are what the market will bear, you may be able at this time of the year to get a pretty good buy from the present owner. Esp the longer it sits for sale!! Of course, that could mean missing it if you were to wait too long. Good luck, and hope you make a deal. Great trailer!!!

Looks like we have made a deal! I'm excited about this TT and have high hopes for a positive experience with this model and brand.

Under $28K was just not going to happen, especially out here in SoCal. Any lower priced units and I'd have to drive pretty far to get one. Ex. If I found one for $24K-25K and it was in Colorado or Oregon, I'd have to take time from work, travel expenses, tow it home, etc. Not worth it to me for $3K-$4K. I'm a working man and using a few days to PU a TT means less vacation time!!!...not retired YET!!

Also, the 280RKS is few and far between for used units.

Includes a 4 point Equalizer Hitch and a Progressive Industries EMS-PT30C. These new are about $800 total.

Thoughts?

Tuq....if I use your new price, and deduct 23% I'm at about $28K.

Is 23% reduction for a 20 month old unit reasonable and a good deal?

Plus EQ hitch, surge protector, and it's 30 mins from my home

Don't take me as a price expert on these things!!! Just giving you some info to work with!! I am assuming that you got the trailer for 28K, or around, so in my opinion you did just fine!!! At that age, you shouldn't find any major problems unless the prev owner did not take care of it or showed no respect for what he spent more than you on!!! But then I am sure that you looked it over closely.

Glad your happy, as you should be!!!

Spot on. I actually had a dealer tell me that NADA is the price. All those options are already on the unit. Things like slide toppers or a 2nd air added by the owner of course would need to be added in.

Just to be clear....

We have agreed on a price with the understanding we are still looking until he confirms things with his finances/bank on the payoff of loan.

So, we are off to see a 2016 Jayco 32BHDS with Elite and Thermal packages. U dinette and Hide A Bed as does Timber Ridge. It's a great deal for $20K and WELL equipped for a Jayco.

Per Jayco:

Customer Value Package (Mandatory):

13500 BTU Central Air, 30 lb. LP Bottle w/ Cover (2), 6 Gal. Gas/Electric DSI Water Heater (10 Gallon in 38BHDS & 38FDDS), 8 cu. ft. Refrigerator (Residential Fridge in 38BHDS & 38FDDS), Bath Skylight, Bathroom Vent, Bedspread, Cable/Satellite TV Hookup, Digital TV Antenna, Microwave, Outside Shower, Oven, Power Tongue Jack, Spare Tire, Tub Surround, Water Heater Bypass

Elite Package:

Black Tank Flush, Digital Touch Screen Remote, 80 Gallon Capacity Fresh Water Tanks (2), Hardwood Drawer Fronts Throughout, Kitchen Sink Covers, Large Entry Door Grab Handle, Porcelain Toilet, Raised Panel Cabinets in Kitchen and Living Room, Refrigerator Insert (N/A in 38BHDS & 38FDDS), Roof Ladder, Skylight w/ Shade in Kitchen, Upgrade Faucet w/ Pull-Out Sprayer, Mor/Ryde CRE 3000 Suspension

Thermal Package:

Insulated, Heated, & Enclosed Underbelly, Foil Insulation in Roof and Slideout Floors

Like new condition is what is claimed by owner.

Wife and son want to see rear bedroom and outside kitchen.

I know they are going to like the rear private room as my boys can sleep in when they want and up front wife and I have living area with available dinette and sofa.

Wife and I both like the quality of the TR but have to make family happy.
Floorplan, more than anything, may win out on this decision.

We'll see

Update....

Went to see the 2016 Jayco 32BHDS this AM.

Great floorplan for a family with the rear room adding privacy. Outside kitchen was a neat feature, and it has a much lower price.

Although not a fair comparison, it was difficult not to compare it to the TR seeing as we just looked at it yesterday. I reminded my 18yo son, who accompanied me, to be as objective as possible and look for things that are important to us but don't ignore obvious issues. My 13yo did not appear to be too excited when I showed him the rear room. He did not appear to like the bunk bed (where he would have slept). Kitchen was much smaller, storage was MUCH less, shower/tub was typical size, but much smaller than the TR. We did a pretty good interior/exterior inspection and analysis (less complete systems check).

After careful analysis and family discussion, we have decided on the 2016 TR 280RKS!!

Now, I will wait to complete the deal next week. By next Friday, we will/should be the new owners! We are all excited to say the least.

Thanks to everyone for their patience and assistance in providing advice, suggestions, comments, etc.....it has helped tremendously.

Now, as soon as we become ORV owners, my questions will be a plenty!!

Thanks!

Truly think you (or the Kids) made the right choice. There was a time when Jayco was a fairly good product. IMO, that is not the case anymore. They are another victim of Thor's efforts to dominate the RV business. You should have many years of relatively trouble free fun with your new ORV TT. Congrats
