Acceptable Water Pressure
I purchased one of these adjustable water pressure regulators https://www.amazon.com/MICTUNING-Adj...rv+wqter+press from Amazon and have adjusted it so that the water pressure, with a faucet open is about 48#.. When I close the faucet, the pressure on the gauge jumps to over 60#. In my mind, that means that i am putting the system under excess pressure when water is not being used.
What is the correct procedure for setting up one of these regulators? Do you adjust it with the water faucet open or closed.

Typically when installing a regulator in a home, the gauge is attached to a hose bib with the bib OPEN and deadheaded by the gauge--in other words, water is NOT flowing. Then the regulator is installed and adjusted so the gauge reads the desired pressure. I understand that to mean you should shut off all faucets in your RV and adjust the regulator so the gauge reads the pressure you want with no water flowing.

50# Static.....(no flow)
Better yet.......
Fill fresh water tank and use the pump
Consistent pressure regardless of where you go
Easy to turn OFF when you go to bed, go outside, leave (no surprises due to LEAK)
Pump short cycles w/o any demand...then you have a leak (city water just runs until...SURPRISE!)
Cracked fitting gave way while sleeping........FLOOD....$6000/repairs-costs
And we were using a regulator.
Pump...fresh water tank. Simple/as intended

Thanks guys. That is what I figured and it seemed logical to me-just wanted to confirm. We do use the on board water tank for the most part and are careful with switch management, but we sometimes use our water hookup on those occasions we are parked at commercial campgrounds. I figure we are paying for it and might as well use it.

Using it to FILL fresh water tank is same/same.....just w/o the major flooding possibility
