Accessories....which did you find great or not so great?

Looking to personalize my new to me 2016 TR 280RKS. Below are few items I am considering and wanted to hear from others about their experiences with these accessories/mods/ Also, any other mods you may have done and would like to share the results.

1. Camco RV Screen Door Cross bar handle (the WIDE model)

2. Carpet for steps (all three).

3. Fridge fan that taps into fridge light and attaches to fins inside refer. Designed to move air inside refer(see pic)

4. Maxx Air II vent covers (prefer black....but I hear the white ones allow more light through)

5. TPMS

6. Add second 12V battery and connect them in parallel

7. What other mods did you find great or not so great?

Thanks!

The only one off your list we have is the second battery. In our use with either shore power or running the generator daily, we've never had a capacity problem.

Here are some accessories I've found very useful:

Stabilizer Jack Socket: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (no doing it by hand)

Hitch Tightener: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (2.5 inch) or https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (2 inch) (eliminates all of the slack in the hitch)

Gas Fire Pit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (usable even during a burn ban!)

Propane Tank Lock: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Battery Lock: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (had to modify to fit better)

Adjustable Water Pressure Regulator: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Surge Protector: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Wheel stabilizers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also did the MORryde suspension upgrade (including wet bolts) myself since it didn't come from the factory with them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I really like the carpet step covers. Seem to help clean off shoe soles as you climb steps.

3. Fridge fan that taps into fridge light and attaches to fins inside refer. Designed to move air inside refer(see pic)

Maxx Air vents covers are nice. Good, if you want to leave vent open, while running down the road or while parked and there is light rain.

5. TPMS
Yes! www.eezrvproducts.com

6. Add second 12V battery and connect them in parallel
The first 5'er I had, I added a second battery. Helps, if you are boondocking

7. What other mods did you find great or not so great?

Thanks!
You can spend $$$ until you run out on RV accessories

Might add bottom screen door grille, if you have a dog. Got mine at Camping World.

One of my most important mods and I should have done it sooner...Insulation of front bin. Significant reduction in heat loss and drafts in bedroom area. Especially when camping at -10c.
Some say it reduces bedroom noise...what ever that means.

Something to think about.
Your dinette cushions will flatten out and you will be sitting on plywood...trust me my cheeks know.
Individual overhead reading lamps in bedroom

Yes for another battery.
Yes for a fridge fan...d cell battery operated
TPMS use my hand to check wheel temp. when I stop.Given my age we stop frequently...if you know what I mean.
Screen door thingy...not a must.
Carpet for steps..not a must just something else to clean. I have floor mats.
Roof vent covers....yup

Hope this helps...lots more stuff you can get and anyways Xmas is coming.

Definitely 'yes' for your #1, #3 and #5.
Love the screen door handle.
Like how the fridge fan helps cooling.
Appreciate the 'view' into the tires that the TPMS gives me.

From your list I've done the roof vent covers and added the second battery. Would have gone the two 6V route but not enough room.

- The clock on the radio is hard to read from an angle so I bought an analog RV wall clock.

- Had solar panels on the previous trailer but solar is not reliable enough for my needs so this time went with a genny.

- Scissor jacks socket for the drill and replaced the manual tongue jack with a power jack. My arthritic shoulder thanks me each time I use them.

- Weber Q bbq.

- Awning mat. Helps keep the interior much cleaner.

- Honeywell thermostat. No more wide temperature swings.

First project next spring is to install an accumulator tank. I'm sure there's more 'stuff' to come.

MaxAir II Vent covers are a must. Without them the vent can pop up on the road. They also keep the rain out. I’m not a big fan of Camco products. I’ve found their quality lacking at times. The best and smartest thing you should do would be to get a hardwired EMS from Progressive Industries. Surges can create a lot of damage. An EMS can protect your trailer from other electrical faults as well.

What about the "center awning cradle"? what is that? I see it's a $38 option on the Timber Ridge line. I'm picking up my TR in 2 weeks and the only options I had are X4 and Mtn. Storage.

I bought the one off the dealer lot because it had the Hot Chocolate interior we like.

The cradle supports the center of the awning when stowed...typically used on longer awnings that may flex in the center due the expanse between end supports.

Example of a cradle

Cradle wont' work per the manufacturer if you have the unit with the sun shield. I guess it gets in the way of the bracket.

If you have the aluminum weather guard, then you can use the Dometic support cradles - model 930061 or the double cradle 930065.
I installed the 930061 on my GP yesterday.

Like Lac said, insulating the front bin makes a big difference. Took an afternoon to do it and was pretty simple.

I like the fantastic fans.

Roof vent foam plug is nice in cold weather.

Another vote for using a drill and drill socket to raise and lower jacks.

Patio mat is nice.

We have a 2.5x6 plastic folding table from Costco that fits under our bunks beds, makes a great table next to the trailer for cooking outside.

Just installed a wet bolt kit, wish I had done it earlier.

Love having two 6 volt batteries.
