When I camp without shore power, i bring my Honda eu 3000 so I don't need long periods of time depending just on batteries. I typically will run the generator a couple hours a day being that is so quite and not bothersome to others
I made this switch in my previous 5th wheel. 2 x 6V gives you a lot more Ah than 2 group 24 marine batteries. I ultimately added 2 more. Then I traded it and somebody else is getting to enjoy them. I highly recommend the Pro-fill watering system. Turns a tedious chore into "30 seconds and your done". 's UP

The specs for the OEM Cross Country 24 dc battery calls them out as dual purpose batteries. Not true deep cycle.

I am changing out my (almost new) Chinese made Goodyear Marathon tires next month, so after that I will probably change out the group 24 batteries with 6 volt in series batteries

Not to hijack a thread, what tires are you putting on?

Hey Wood Chip

If you start with 200Ah or 250Ah or 300Ah batteries and want to add later on make sure to add the same size batteries.

Check to make sure the compartment is well ventilated. There will be allot more Hydrogen coming off the batteries.

Also consider the charger (converter) when selecting batteries. High Ah and a small charger will be like filling tires with a hand pump.

John

Michelin XPS Rib 245 75r 16e. Too many issues out there with ST tires so decided to go with the LT tires

Good choice. They are commercial LT's with full steel casings. I put six of them on my brand new at the time 5th wheel toy hauler. I pulled it for 17K mi, and rarely ever had to add any air to them. They are bullet proof. Should be for the price, eh?
