Keep in mind that the class IV hitch on the truck is probably rated for 1150lbs when using a WDH. That's one number I wouldn't want to go over by very much.

Forgot about that. That was another reason we traded up to a 3/4 ton with a class 5, 2.5" hitch receiver. The shank in the class 4 on the F150 was wearing looser and looser every year (we were over the rating by 2-300#). And I couldn't find an aftermarket Class V for a 2011 F150 MaxTow (although one did exist for the RegTow trucks).

The ORV trailers are tremendously heavy on the hitch. Our trailer is very, very, very heavy on the hitch. Then the 60 gallon fresh water tank is ahead of the trailer axles, so that adds to the hitch weight. The factory stated 695 lb hitch weight is bogus. By the time everything is added up, it's way over double that. Our factory stated hitch weight is 550 lb. Today our actual hitch weight is about 1500 lb.

Although I have never checked the actual capacity for fresh water in our 2016 23RKS, the specs say 80g(US), including hot water tank.

I know that the 2018 F150 has better towing specs than previous years. I agree that you are probably going to be closer that you would like for your GVWR and GAWR -but it is a workable situation - while that model has its water tank forward of the axles - it is not under the bed like in others and while it will add to the tongue wt. you can always travel with less water in the tank and fill it when you get close to your campground. Would you be happier with a bigger truck - probably, but I don't think your combo would be all that bad for a starter. Just beware of 2ft ites - your next TT will probably be at least 2ft longer than the previous one - and at that time you will probably want to upgrade to a larger truck as well.

Here's what we've got:

2018 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost Supercrew 4x4 w/ Max Tow pkg 36g Fuel tank 145" WB
Per the Ford Fleet Towing Guide PDF:
GCWR - 18,100; Max Loaded Trailer Weight - 12,700
Per the door panel stickers:
GVWR - 7000; Payload - 1559; Front GAWR - 3525; Rear GAWR - 4050

I predict between my husband, myself, kids & gear, we'll add about 515 lbs to the weight of the truck.

I understand the 23DBS already starts off pretty heavy compared to other TTs at 6350 dry with a tongue weight of 695. So if I add 108# for propane and maybe 100# for batteries, I think our payload should be about 1,418. What else am I not thinking of? Are we cutting it too close to our capacity? Thanks in advance for your feedback!
You will be over the 1559# GVWR with this TT loaded for camping trip.

We should never use dry tongue wt for any calculation purpose as nobody camps with an empty TT. My Timber Ridge states a dry TW of 619# on its label. I took it to a scale on the way back from a weekend trip, with hardly any water in fresh tank and empty waste tanks, the TW turned out to be close to 1,000#. So forget about the 695# DTW you have in your calc and subtitute with 12% of the GVW of the TT and you get the picture. Somebody actually use 15% for calc to play it safe.
