DEXTER Ezflex Tandem Equalizer Suspension Kit

While doing a wheel bearing pack I noticed the equalizer and shackles were loose. Ordered EZ-flex kit with wet bolts and 1/2 shackles. When I removed the old ones the holes were beat out and elongated and most the plastic bushings were worn out. Glad I upgraded the suspension
The unit had been pulled about 20,000 miles.

Definitely a good upgrade.
Glad ORV makes it an option in newer trailers.
Replaced mine at 10K miles.
They were prolly garbage earlier than that given some of the roads we had been travelling on.

Getting the TT jacked up safely by the frame till the tires are off the ground is the fun part of doing wet bolts. I did it once on a smaller TT but might look into just having it done this time.

I would encourage anyone with around 20,000 miles or more on there units to check the suspension before a problem occurs. I could not believe how far the shackles were beat out and how worn the bushings were:

My kit is ordered. We have 32,000 miles on our WR. Now I need to find a competent RV gear head in the Tri-Cities to install it. Thanks Dave!

Do you think the EZ Flex is better than the Trail-air system that came on the ORV TT's? I had the Dexter system on a previous TT and the rubber donut cracked so they sent me a replacement that never got installed sitting on the bench.

I didn't see the negative post until after i ordered kit! All the negative I read were from 09 to 11 hope they have the issues corrected. They looked good have not towed with them yet?

I just did the HD shackles, grease bolts and bushings. Used the original equalizer as I was afraid the Dexter would decrease the clearance between tires and wheel well.

Read somewhere on this board that the Mor-Ryde equalizer kit is better as it actually will increase the clearance, but not sure ...

for our tandem axle units the part # is K71-652-00
The 653 # is for triple axle units.

The ride height is the same as factory, I did not want to raise the hitch Right now I can open tailgate while hooked up, did not want to loose that

Found the discussion about the Mor-Ryde kit.
MOR/Ryde CRE3000 (long)
It ended up raising the body by ~1", and he changed the shocks to compensate. Apparently that rise is how ORV can now offer 16" wheels and tires.

If I added the Mor-Ryde, don't think I'd raise the hitch. Just let the trailer tilt nose down a little bit more as I'm pretty level now. But I'm happy with ride of the stock springs and shocks, and my 15" wheels and tires are fine, so it will prolly never happen.

Kit installed

First an apology for not responding to Bascoe. For some reason I did not see your post.

Today I had a local trailer manufacturer install the kit as recommended by Mtn Dave. (Thanks Dave!)

What I am here to report is the deplorable condition of the plastic bushings. All 8 where totally thrashed. Here are the photos. We have 33,000 miles on the rig.

Be advised...

Robert the wonderful.....how many hours to remove old and replace with new ones did it take to do the job? Trying to get an idea what it would cost me.

Interesting you get the same plastic bushings in a high end trailer as you would get in an entry level trailer unless you pay more for the brass bushing grease fitted option.

I’ll probably do this retro fit when I return from our southern trip.

A trailer is a trailer is a trailer.

I did mine with the MORryde equalizer and wet bolts, and it took about three hours for the first side while figuring everything out and 45 minutes for the second.
