Smile Door latch added under warranty

Just picked up the trailer after some warranty work (electronic control module, bad cabinet latch, stiff door handle). We also asked our dealer to install a positive door latch on the kitchen door since we have trouble with the friction feature staying open. It turns out they covered the latch under warranty! Just thought I would let other ORV owners know.

I beleive in cases like this it is worthwhile to say who the dealer or repair person was so that others that appreciate their efforts can reward them with more business.

My warranty work was done by Stewart's RV in American Fork, UT. While I like them, I think this is something from the manufacturer, ORV. The dealer can't make decisions about what is warranty or not; that comes from the manufacturer. Of course, sometimes dealers do work for free as a customer satisfaction item, but this one was clearly marked as warranty on the receipt. I think the 2015 models come with these latches, but earlier models had a friction method for keeping the door open. It didn't work well in even a light breeze, if the wind came from specific directions.

No, they cannot, but they can make sure that you leave there happy or not, despite factory warranty decisions. Now that there is a data point, we can start to collect data, and maybe eventually we can begin to track what dealers do well by the customer and which simply do not.

The friction doors do not work if a stiff breeze comes up. We took or BS to La Grande for warranty work & I asked Dave about door latches. Dave said the door latches were going to be installed on the new trailers and would install them on ours if we so desired. We did, the door latches look good and work, this was in Aug. 2014.
