Dump handles spin

Should my dump handles be snug or should they spin freely on my 2015 Creekside? Will it tighten normally or is it backwards threads?

Try turning normal way (clockwise) to tighten the threaded shaft in the gate valve and the handle on the shaft. Don't strip them, they thread into plastic.

Mine seem to just spin and spin no matter which way I turn them. (I haven't pulled the belly pan to see what type of connector.) But I've seen pictures of Valterra valves which seem to have their rod molded into the valve (not threaded on the valve side) but it might be nice to get some confirmation from ORVPDMAN.

like this damaged one (not mine)

Mine spin. I lost the gray handle and the rod it was mounted on my first trip. Replaced it with a threaded rod into a long nut that I used thread locker on to make sure it stayed. It's stayed for thousands of miles since. My black handle is next to a piece of metal that prevents it from turning, so I'm not worried about that one.

In case anyone is wondering, 1/4" coarse thread.

Back in Jan in the mods thread, ORVPDMAN did comment on the rods into the valve:

"They won't tighten as you might expect....the rod that goes into the valve spins freely."

Just make sure the handle is tight on the screw thread on the rod, or you can have the handle disappear. As I said earlier, use vice grips and tape or padding to hold the rod, tighten T handle on the rod.
