Glacier Peak Water Heater

Took my new-to-me (2015) Glacier Peak 26 CIS out for the second time this past weekend and the electric side of my water heater failed. I took the trailer out last weekend for the first time, and after initially heating the water using the LP, I switched to electric for the rest of the weekend. It worked fine. This weekend I did the same thing, but when I got up Saturday morning I had no hot water. I recycled the 15 amp breaker a couple of times - it "felt" okay, but still no hot water. I really didn't want to tear the panel apart to check the breaker with my multimeter, so I just went back to LP for the rest of the weekend.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Is it a known problem with this particular heater? I will check the breaker the next time I am at the storage facility...

Thanks,

Gun Doc

Glacier Peak built the RV, but the WH was built either by Suburban or Atwood. Usually the 120 v heating element will work for a long time unless the tank is empty. There is a temperature sensor that shuts off the element if it overheats. Perhaps yours shut down too soon. It can usually be reset by pushing on the button on the sensor. It might be on the back of the tank, access may be hard to get to.

I suggest you Google your make and model WH to find online manuals and troubleshooting tips. Also a lot of YouTube videos on RV WH.

On the GP models they have Suburban water heaters. I checked on our F26CIS, and you can easily access the reset switch by taking off the outside cover. It looks like a rubber cover on the left side above the burner tube.

When we took ours out for the initial test run last week, the water heater ran fine on both LP and electric.

Thanks for the replies.

I figured there was a reset somewhere, just hadn't looked other than to check the breaker. Like I said, it did work fine the first weekend trip and actually seemed to work for a few hours this weekend. I'll be sure to check the reset button next time I am at the storage lot.
