Ok, this isn't really a mod, but in the interest of not wasting gallons of fresh water when I decided to dump the fresh water tank and refill I created this coupling that screws onto a garden hose and then slips over the drain valve on the fresh water tank. I then run the hose to my plants or some nearby brown spot in the lawn that needs watering. Of course my lawn slopes down from the street so it makes for pretty decent gravity flow. Might even be able to run a small sprinkler...

The parts include a 1 3/4" coupling with a slide-in reducer to take it down to 3/4". Then a 2" section of 3/4" pipe to connect to the threaded hose adapter. Here's a pic of the parts and the finished product. It fits onto the drain valve tightly enough that it stays in place while draining.

I use a similar "thingy" with a wing nut set-screw to be sure it does not fall off. I have some leakage with the "slip over" arrangement and would like to find an easy way to seal it. Maybe an O-ring somewhere?

Any ideas?

Hmmm... I didn't seem to have much leakage. Wonder if mine just happens to fit a bit tighter. But maybe will loosen up over time and increase leakage. Will have to play with it a bit. Yes, maybe an O-ring. Or maybe some thin gasket material lining the coupling to tighten the fit. I suppose in a worst case scenario one could glue the device to the drain tube, which would definitely seal it, but I think I'd have to be seeing some serious leakage before taking that permanent step.

Or, if you could find a short piece of rubber hose the right size you could use a couple of radiator clamps to secure the device to the drain tube.

I replaced the dump light with a marine engine room light (completely waterproof) because the factory one got broke. It’s quite a bit brighter than I expected and operates off a touch sensor switch. It lights up a single LED as a nightlight to help turn it on in the dark. Installation involved crimping onto the wires and cleaning off the old sealant, and because the new light is potted, it doesn’t need any.

I found a deal that made me drop my plan for building my own... The one I got is: MORryde CTG60-2060W ... They have many size options listed on their web site like a 22" wide one that should fit but to order a factory build was double the cost. The best price I found prior to the one I got was RVupgrades.com
