Looking for input
I have a 2005 Arctic Fox 22H. Love the TT and floorplan except for the bed. 12 yrs ago it was not that much of a problem getting out of the back of the bed. Now I would really like a walk around bed. We love the large rear bath and our dogs take the sofa most of the time. While I like the extra space a slide offers, I am not sure I want one. Currently we camp mostly at state parks, but also want to go to visit some national parks in the future. As well as take extended trips and possibly to full time as we move to retirement in 4-5 years.
Currently I am looking at either the Creekside 22RB or 20FQ I am looking for comments from people who have either TT and if they find them adequate for long trips for two people and two large dogs.

We have a 20fq and no question it's a great extended trip trailer for two adults but I don't think it would be so great if you add in a couple of large dogs. Without a slide there isn't much open floor space to share. We lost our lab before we bought the trailer and as much as we miss him we have commented that traveling with him in the trailer would not have been comfortable for either him or ourselves.

Love our 20fq...
We downsized from a 43' DP last summer to our early 2017 20fq.
It was the best decision we have made with rv's.
No slide problems.
Very little maintenance.
Good bathroom.
Very comfortable bed.
Take it anywhere.
Easy to tow with the new 2016 Chevy 2500.
We have no pets so can't answer the dog question....

Well we went to the RV dealer big mistake - maybe. We saw the 22RB and a Black Rock 20RD (same floorplan as the Creekside 20FQ). DW has always liked a U shape dinette and sofas and disliked separate bedrooms and side bathrooms. However once we got in these two units we discovered that neither would really work that well for us and the two dogs.
The 22RB felt small and the front bedroom was too closed in due to the wall behind the sofa. The bath also seemed smaller than our 22H The 20RD was better, but lacked the kind of storage space we were looking for - like dog food etc.
Well we stumbled onto (or into as the case may be) the Timber Ridge 25RBS. I know that this is now twice the TT and has the slide. But it seemed to have a place for everything on our list. DW even liked the side bathroom and the bedroom with the separate exit door. Even though we would probably use the rear door as the main entrance.
I never thought I would own a 30+ ft long TT, let alone one with a slide - but after looking at AF, Nash and Outdoors units - this one had everything we were looking for and more. Which might be nice if we start doing camp hosting or full time traveling.
Decisions decisions.

We had a Nash 22h and got rid of it for the same reason, crawl over bed.
We went to a Komfort 27 foot travel trailer and I had to get rid of my 99 GMC 1/2 ton and bought a 2003 3/4 ton GMC with the 8.1 gas engine.
I hope your 6.0 pulls your new trailer OK.

Thanks for the input Arch - I forgot to mention I have a new truck on order a 2017 Silverado 2500HD with the new DuraMax Diesel - I hope it would be able to handle the 25RDS
This will be my 5th TT and TV since 1983 and the biggest of all of them.
Previous combos:
'83 S-10 / '67 15' Kit
'83 S10 / '86 Komfort 20' lite with bunks
'89 Astro / '86 Komfort 20' lite with bunks
'89 Astro / '99 21' Trail Lite
'99 Tahoe / '99 21' Trail Lite
'99 Tahoe / '05 Arctic Fox 22H
'07 Silverado 2500HD / '05 Arctic Fox 22H
'17 Silverado 2500HD DuraMax Diesel / ?????
To a degree I have had a bit of 2'ites when it comes to TTs. If we advance to the 25RDS it will be more like 7'

Heh, we did just about the same thing -- started looking to upgrade from a 20' Forest River Vibe because of its climb-over corner bed last summer, then saw a Creekside 20FQ at a local RV show. Talan was there from ORV and answered a ton of questions and I just got more and more sold on all the great quality features. We were thinking the 20FQ would be a very nice upgrade with the rear dinette and the walk-around bed. But then we saw the 25RDS. Same rear dinette with the beautiful great big windows and rear view, but with a lot more storage, bigger kitchen, and a couch for company or more occupants. I didn't really want a slide (no dogs and don't really need room for a dance floor while camping) but it's the only floor plan with a couch and that dinette with the big rear view. We just couldn't resist and ordered it at the end of September and got it just before the end of the year.
Last weekend we took our first trip, the "check-out cruise" to Fort Stevens State Park simply for the available full hookups. Everything worked great and we sure got a thorough leak test -- it rained all weekend, a lot! There was some water by the rear door after storage but we didn't see that at all on the trip (of course we had the awning out so didn't really test the door seals much!) I'll be checking around the window caulk shortly but I think it was mostly a quirk of the wind at the storage yard.
The other kind of weird thing was that the hot water in the bathroom sink was a tiny trickle -- unless you turn it on verrrrrrry slowly. Anyone seen something like that? We're going to just replace that faucet with a single-lever one so it won't be an issue anyway.
With about 40F rain we did note the furnace running a fair amount but of course it had no trouble keeping up and we were plenty cozy. The rear dinette area indeed is a little chillier in the cold weather with all that window area, but it's double-pane thermopane so was just noticeable, not bad.
We had one horrifying experience, a possibly cautionary tale. We watched a movie for the first time using the sound system and had it turned up pretty loud to hear dialog over the furnace at times. Well when I went to get the DVD out, to my horror I noticed the two "zone" buttons on the Furrion audio system, both "on". We had been blaring the movie sound track out into the quiet peaceful campground!
Well, when I went around and apologized to the neighbors in the morning all of them thanked me but said, to my immense relief, that they hadn't even noticed. I think it was raining so hard and they had their own things to listen to, but I hope I never make that mistake again! I think we're going to put a warning label over that Furrion: "Don't forget the outside speakers!"
The one upgrade I came home determined to do was replace the shower head with an Oxygenics water-saving one and the shower faucet with a single-lever one so turning the water off and on is simple and doesn't waste so much while getting it adjusted (again). We never ran out of hot water though.
Anyway, I came away very impressed and very happy with the new rig! And even the slide seems pretty reasonable, works fine, and certainly adds some room. All in all, I'm sure you'll be delighted when yours come in too!

Congrats on a great floorplan choice. I've had my WR 250RDSW for 3 years now and it's the best floorplan out there, for me. It's a little longer than I would like but only by about 2-3 feet so I can live with that. If you get stuck in bad weather for a few days, no problem, easy to live in. Although they can be towed with a 1/2 ton it is a wise choice to get the 2500 Diesel of any maker. take the factory tour in La Grande if you can. Enjoy the new TT. Now it's OK for you to post on the OutdoorsRV forum, LOL.

As a matter of fact, I did take a tour while at the last AF club rally I attended in 2015. I just dropped in to get some info and they gave me and my wife the full tour - even showed us a unit fresh off the line.
Overall they have a smartly run assembly plant, with sub assemblies built in adjacent plants. By using the same construction in all of the walls, ceiling, and floors they can buy their raw material in bulk much like the appliances.
Their frames come from the Northwood plant down the road and if I remember correctly they either make or modify their slide mechanisms to make it easier for them to be retracted should they ever stop working. BTW that is one thing I am going to make sure the dealer reviews with us.
Oregon Ken - where did you buy your rig? How was your overall buying experience.
We have now put $$ down on one of the units that the dealer has coming in April.

Looks like I'm in good company of Oregonians either owning or shopping for an Outdoors RV.
Have visited with the local ORV dealer (local is relative), and am waiting to see one of the new floor plans being produced this month.
I'm also interested to hear about others buying experiences.

Apache Camping over on the east side on 82nd St. I expect that's your dealer too -- they're the only one in the Portland area?
It was a fairly good experience. The sales process was no-pressure and a reasonable deal I thought. And their quick re-winterization worked fine through the frozen first of the year here. The only significant glitches were at the end of the process when we took delivery: he really didn't take time to properly check the adjustment of the new Blue Ox hitch. It was clearly too tight (you can clearly see the truck rear lifted in a photo we took before leaving) and we fought seriously dangerous sway all the way home. Scared the heck out of me.
Also, when we upgraded to a 3/4 ton truck (as I said, it scared the heck out of me!) I needed to adjust the hitch and couldn't get the bolts loose with over 800 foot pounds. (They're rated for 257 ft-lbs.) It had to be seriously over-torqued. It was really cold that day (for Oregon) and I suspect that they had the hitch cold and the bolts warm when they put it on? Anyway, a small blowtorch did the trick and when we carefully set the hitch tension per instructions (with new bolts) on our new (to us) F250 the trailer didn't show the slightest sway going back and forth over the coast range last weekend. I was amazed -- I didn't even feel trucks going by! Was it the hitch adjustment or the bigger truck? Both, I believe, but boy the combination of the TR 25RDS with the upgraded suspension, the Blue Ox properly adjusted, and the F250 is solid as a rock. (Oops, "Like a rock" is Chevy, isn't it?)
So Apache was good, but be sure hold them to a thorough procedure when setting up your hitch for the first time!

Yes we are indeed dealing there - Bill is our sales person - seems to know a lot about the industry and both AF and ORV units.
Was out by there on other business today and stopped to show my son what we were getting. We discovered that there are two drawers under the bed - sweet.
We also noticed that this unit appeared to be missing the TP holder - Ken where is yours??
We also had a much nicer ride when going from the Tahoe to the Silverado and are expecting a similar experience going from gas to diesel.

Usually they don't install the toilet paper holder until the person who buys the RV tells them where to mount it.

Good eye, Fox! The TP holder was installed -- it's in the cupboard next to the shower. A bit awkward but workable.
Did you note the under-bed storage? The lifters work well to hold it open too.
I may be an iRV2 heretic but I'm not enamored with diesel. Still learning about that.
