Magnum Inverter/charger

Installation mostly complete.
Seems to operate fine, but I don't find operating details in the manual.
When I enable the inverter, the display reads a 33-45A. When I power on a circular saw (15amp motor), display shows 175A. Similar results with a (9amp) shop vacuum.
Will be nice not to have to fire up the genny when I want to use a device occasionally.

12 volt

It probably is showing the 12 volt amperage draw. You would need to start the generator to see Alternating current draw

Yeah, that's probably it. Just checking to see if 40A is normal inverter (only) load. 135A DC load for a 15A AC power saw is about right.

I have a similar or same remote and a Magnum inverter/charger. You should be able to get good operating instructions from their website based on the model numbers.

Did you also install the battery monitoring kit with a shunt?

With the battery monitor and on the remote, the current should read xxA DC. 175A DC sounds reasonable for the saw.

What model number components did you use? That may be useful getting help.

When you turn on and get 33-45A, that sounds high. You must have a load on the AC, or if is a charger/inverter, it may be charging the batteries.

No load on AC in this case, that's why it peaked my interest. I realize the inverter isn't 100% efficient however.

I have a Victron battery monitor, so haven't enabled that function on the Magnum.
I'll have to check to see how the 40A reading on the Magnum display relates to what the Victron is monitoring for actual use.

That does sound high for no load on the inverting circuit. I have a different magnum but same remote. When there is nothing plugged into the circuit it is connected to and the magnum is inverting it reads "searching". The draw on the batteries is less than an amp according to my trimetric. A toaster or coffee maker shows a draw of 95 amps on the magnum remote when connected and running.

Problem solved.
I was back-feeding the wfco panel because I failed to properly split the interior receptacle as I had intended. Now the Magnum display reads 0A when inverter function enabled. 300watts load to converter prior! You can't charge your batteries with your batteries! Duh
