Mother of a hail storm

Monday, we sustained one heck of a hail storm.

Golf ball sized plus hail for 10 minutes plus.

The truck is beat to heck, looks like over 200 dents and dings.

Our skylight over the shower took a hole, max air fan took a hole, awning took several holes. We had accidentally left it out about 3 feet.

Other than that everything on the roof looked ok. I need to have the roof inspected I suppose. Slide toppers looked fine. Cap looked fine. Ac covers fine.

It was crazy, sounded like a war!!

After it was all done, the entire rv camp crawled out and onto their roofs. Some rvs took it really bad.

Then this creepy fog descended on the campground, and it made for one heck of a photo.

Sorry man. That really stinks! Glad you weren't stuck outside and away from shelter when it hit.

Will be interesting to hear what the insurance company does about your truck. Seems like they'd have to total it.

Glad to hear you and your family are alright as that's the main thing. As for the truck and there are enough hail dents an easily replaceable panel like the hood will likely just be replaced with a new one as its more cost effective. But dents in the roof, fenders, etc. can be taken out by someone who's trained in paintless dent repair. These guys can massage the dents out to the point where they are literally no longer there and you'd never know anything had happened.

That’s what I figure.

The trucks roof, hood, fenders all dinged pretty good

What does hail do the the integrity of a rubber roof? In an extreme event like this is there going to be for sure damage to the plywood under the membrane or the adhesive between the two?

We have dents all over our roof under the rubber & a couple spots that look like someone took a hatchet to it .

I second this comment. I would contact the manufacturer and see what it would to evaluate the structural integrity of the underlying plywood. Many time (might I say most) when the hail is large enough to go through skylights and damage the truck to the extent you are describing, the overall structural integrity of the plywood is compromised. The top coating of the roof is elastic, the underlying structure, not so much.

An adjuster not knowledgeable in RV construction, or one trying to do the minimum repairs readily apparent, without repairing WHAT IS NEEDED may try and tell you that there is no need to replace the roof, "look, you can see that the covering isn't damaged!" Down the road, you probably be replacing the roof, and then at your expense.

Shoot for replacement of the entire roof and underlying structure as the minimum necessary repair to make you "whole" again.

That’s my concern exactly

We already have a standing appt with a Colorado based ORV dealer for a list of small stuff

I’ll be adding the roof inspection there

The plywood is held down by multiple staples or at best screws which penetrate all the way through to the framing. A simple surface dent is not going to compromise its structural integrity.

Sooo...the roof trusses would probably be OK but everything above those would have to be evaluated, at least. Let's say the OP's roof(plywood, membrane) needs to be replaced, what kind of shop does this type of work best? The factory would be ideal, I suppose, but would they do this work if the trailer showed up on their doorstep?
