When you replace the vent cover get rid of that cheap cover and install a 360 Siphon cover. They really help eliminate black tank odors. Google it and see how they work.

I'm not a skilled fix it guy, I don't even know where to start.

Thanks folks!
Gary

If you drop the coroplast route, you'll also have to drop the tank as the vent enters at the top of the tank. Not for the faint-of-heart.

gbgeezer's solution should give you an idea as how to approach it from inside the trailer. But it might be necessary to open up a wall to get at it.

You might try going up on the roof again and fiddling with it. Lift it up a bit, move it over, trying to get it into the collar and rotate it into place pushing hard. If successful it might stay in a bit longer ??

Good luck!

Thanks all, this really is the best place around for getting help with issues.

Spoke to ORV today and the recommendation is simply to lop it off and replace the cap, being careful of course to not take too much off.

He thinks the reason for it was likely a full tank or over full tank which caused the tank to expand, they are concave to start so maybe it's not concave anymore. We were camping without hookups and had a good long drive on a gravel road before we hit the highway sonthw rough road combined with a full tank could have caused it too.

When I get home I'll play around a bit with it first to see if there is any play in it and see if it seats its self again, otherwise I'll chop that bad boy off.
