Did ORV change suppliers? If so why revert to the older standard?
I think they just use what they have....bad batch. Only they know.

My last trailer was 5 years old when I sold it, never had to replace the gas line pigtails during that time.

I am starting to read about the Cavanagh regulators are failing as well. Hmmm.

Ok suffice to say that these are failing not from sun exposure as many of these are tucked in cabinets.

Kind of scary really these things leaking.

I agree with eqwilly. ORV shouldn't be using the old style pigtails.

They may not even be aware of it as an issue. You should bring it up with them.

I just checked mine, and they are the new style, but as the regulator was replaced a couple of years ago, the pigtails may have been as well.

This is a potential safety issue, and they need to know about it. My valves and connections to the tanks are enclosed....no exposure to the sun. Must be a defective material issue.

Thanks for your post and feedback.

Wow, seriously? Fittings rotting and leaking in a bit over a year? That's sad. ORV should be making the fix or reimbursing those who had to make the fix themselves. It's too bad the RV industry only stands behind their products for 12 months for such things. Imagine having a leaking fuel line on that new of a vehicle. There would be a mandated recall in no time.

Unfortunately, once your warranty for parts is over, it's on you. ORV did stand by their trailer for the first year very well.

Mine both leaked one was 1.5 years old when I replaced it and the other was just over two years old. I can’t remember what type they were I just bought new ones and threw the old ones away.

Just replaced mine with braided ss ones from etrailer. Mine were 13 months old, covered the whole time. Not a huge expense but still an unneeded hassle for a new trailer.

What a coincidence to find this thread today. Doing pre-flight on my rig and found this leak. Started to research it and figured I'd check IRV2 to see it is a known problem. Thanks for the info. Logging on to order replacement right now!

Getting close to recall territory.

I wonder what the real numbers are if you include all ORV for the past 3-4 years. Many more going unreported since they are not part of the blog group here. Plus any other brands that bought from Cananagh in Canada.

This is why a one year warranty in the RV industry is a joke, and we suffer for it. Imagine paying $50K on a new car and having a leaking fuel line with only a year warranty behind it. We would all be livid.

Propane pigtail leaking

I sent an email to Troy Johnson at ORV this morning. If anything they can warn people and hopefully get rid of that supplier. Sent him a link to this forum.

What is Troy's position at ORV?

Not sure really but when mine was getting made on the assembly line its who I spoke with from the factory. He has always been very responsive and he already emailed me back today he would be forwarding it to the right person at the plant.

I have been smelling propane around the house a bit the last few days. I can't find out where it is coming from. I can't figure out if it is coming from my BBQ at the house, the house or the brand new TT in the driveway. I need to check this tomorrow AM before heading out in our new TT. I hope that the failure of the product on my 21FQS isn't the issue.

A soap test is in order as the first step?
