Remembrance Day Canada 11 November

Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

Lest we forget.

Attended Veterans Day and Remberance day ceremonies in Hemet California. Nice to see a good turn out. Although I did miss the laying of the wreaths and people wearing poppies.

It was different seeing people, like me, wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts and Birkenstockís instead of winter jackets, scarves, and mits.

What I missed most was the soulful sound of the lament on a set of finely tune pipes. ( bagpipes)

However we where all there to remember and honour those that gave the ultimate sacrifice so we have the life we have now.

Lest we forget.

Cenotaph ceremonies

A few pictures of the Remembrance Day I missed in Kamloops BC Canada. My poppy as tradition dictates was left at Gibbel Park cenotaph Hemet California.

Lest we forget.

Poppies aren't a thing here in the US. Sometimes they have them on Memorial Day, usually they have US flags, and a few poppies, and if you ask for a poppy they're like, what. My dad grew up in Canada and would always get poppies, so I do.
