screw size

Working on trailer deficiencies today and tried to fix the side skirts on my unit.
the screws appear to be torx heads , but t15 is too small and t20 is too big. anyone had these off and know what screw type and size it is?

Definitely a multipoint head, not a Robertson.

Apologies to halftimes and Thanks to orvpdman, it is a Robertson.
my eyes are getting weak, soon I will be legally blind...
also being Canadian ,I should have recognized it immediately.

Its not your eyes, they look very much like torqx.

I even went as far as to begin to grind down one of my torqx bits, until I buggered it up. Its like it needed to be a bit between 15 and 20 (a 17?)

But I found that the square Robertson bit DID fit and have used it since.

Hunh. Never saw a Robertson like that.
According to Wikipedia it's a "Double-Square"
"2 Robertson squares superimposed at 45° rotation."
You can get special bits for it, but, as you found out, a regular Robertson should also work.

You learn something new everyday ...

Yes, this is exactly right, a Double-Square (2 Robertsons at 45°).
I didn't even know this existed.

I guess it's kind of like like using a flat-head (straight-slot) screwdriver on a Phillips head screw?

It is just the Americans not wanting to use a Canadian invention...

What?
Do we need to have the UN create a "Peter Lymburner Robertson" appreciation day, (though his screws are pretty cool) eh?
