I have looked at the Arctic Fox 22G. The layout is pretty nice and the trailer length is great at just under 24 feet. That length should get into most of the smaller campsites. The fresh and black tanks are smaller. I see one available in Colfax about 60 miles from my house with the upgrade dual pane windows that is priced at $32,000. It has the bed that converts to a sofa for daytime. The Colfax unit also has a solar panel and controller installed but I would have to upgrade it for my off-grid power needs. There is more cabinet space than in the 26RD.

My truck has the large extendable width trailer towing mirrors so I should be fine towing it. I am not sure if I would notice the extra 6 inches going down the road. My 5x8 trailer is narrow enough that my Highlander can see down each side. 8 or 8.5 feet will seem much wider than what I currently tow.

It is definitely a model that I should do a walk through with my wife.

I dunno about the 8.5' width. We started with a 7.5' trailer then moved up to the current 8' wide Timber Ridge.

And I recall some very tight situations, narrow bridges, construction lanes, where I wouldn't want anything wider.

But they do give you more space inside. Doesn't Airstream also have 8.5' wide trailers? I know they don't have slides.

There's a lot of 8'6 wide RV's on the road. Most all class A's are 8'6. Many of the larger MH's are 8'6. As mentioned AS is 8'6. I very rarely here of anyone complain about 3" more on one side or the other. The best part about the extra 6" is the extra room when walking on the side of the bed.

I believe so. I've heard owners refer to them as wide bodies. What the exact width is I don't know.

They made an Airstream with a slide at one point.

Yep. Camped next to one once. The owners loved it.

Narrow body is your friend "off-road" YMMV ... I've gone across many bridges in 96" wide body rigs with maybe an inch to spare. The good news is those old narrow bridges get less common as time progresses. However the passing of 2 rigs on a goat trail, is always an unpredictable challenge where inches often matter.

Tradeoffs, tradeoffs as we each have our uses and priorities to consider. If getting to a remote mountain top location matters, don't loose site of what can realistically make it there "and back" ... more than once without damage

Slide or not.

We have a 2016 21RBS Creek side and the slide out has been great. We level with a set of Anderson ramps and a rafter level so we are very level before we move the slides. If the mechanism is kept clean and the trailer is always level I am sure you will get years out of it with no issues. We had a 2006 Mobile Suite that had several large slides that gave us no issues.

I can see the width being a consideration. My 5x8 is on a little wider than 6 feet so it is easy to not worry about dropping a tire off the edge off a narrow pavement. My experience so far is we go on some unpaved 2 track roads on the way to BLM sites. Some of the mountain roads become one lane only for short periods. I have never crossed a narrow bridge with my vehicle. I think they are more common where I grew up back east.
